My guilty pleasures in life are Isekai and Xianxia. The more ridiculous the better.

I am not so into Xianxia. I don't really like the whole "cultivation" idea. The only one I read is "My Disciple Died Yet Again".

My guilty pleasures in life are Isekai and Xianxia. The more ridiculous the better.

Basically this. Some of the reasons why I read them is because they are ridiculous, cringeworthy, and fun. The more otherworldly the better because I usually can't think of that myself. I enjoy finding out how far they go.

2-3 weeks for 17 page, meh good enough,

The link to the raw is dead tho'

Seem there is a hiatus until the 25 January, could someone confirm ?

quoted for truth

its so sad that the LN for this was equally interesting as this is for now but after he deals with the first part of the story it all turns into a patethic harem that gets more and more boring as it goes on and when i stopped reading the author seemed like a horny idiot that couldnt think of anything but how to ad more girls to his harem

Frodo is great as the MC of lord of the rings. Precisely because he is an ordinary guy forced to go on an adventure.

Lord of the rings would have been terrible if the MC was aragorn and it was about him walking into Mordor, complete with long monologues about how amazing he is and his harem of a dozen girls wetting themselves. There's a pretty good chance that a story like that would never have gotten past a western editor in the first place. This is actually a good thing (take a wrting class or literature class if you want to know why).

I already gave an example where an OP character is used correctly. Saitama is used correctly. He is not a mary sue, nor he is being used as the author's blatant self insert.

Arifureta's MC is NOT used correctly. He started off as a well written character, then quickly became the author's mary sue self insert. This is not how you use an OP character. This is literally deviantart levels of writing where the author writes about how his self insert is a legendary ninja or some shit. This is the kind of stuff you fantasize about when you are bored in class, in middle school. You are not supposed to write it down.

I find it interesting how you take no issues with the obvious plagiarism btw.

putting in spoiler tags, because it's a bit too lenghy

Spoiler

doesn't Yue's BEWBs looks quite big for her body size?

Spoiler

Nope.

This isnt the fist story of its kind but its the first one ive read. This was refreshing. I got so sick of MCs all in their feelings about stuff that made me scream, "Grow some nuts!" This story is about how someone was weak willed and put into a situation that made him frow a pair and how the rest of the world reacts to his transfomation. THe main plot isnt about the slowly growing MC. Its about a weak MC that was left for dead and came back a bad ass.

well main point of isekai story always weak mc either in real world or after go to another world, and then at some point become mighty op

i think it's better if mc become op by his transmute skill,  or maybe become op in the first chapter and focus to help his party/harem member become stronger other than just eat and get other monster's skill, his personality after he become op is what i don't like in this manga

well maybe it's not my type of isekai story

Lol, the "mary-sue" debate is cracking me up.

What were you people expecting when you started reading an Isekai manga?

Let's be honest, 90% of Isekai manga are author inserts that revolve around the weak-geek become an OP god-almighty. That's the attraction of them. Honestly, I probably wouldn't enjoy them half as much if they weren't as bad s they are.

Right, because deviantart level of writing involves having characters (potential love interests at that) within the story openly (and repeatedly) pointing out and embarrassing the author's "mary sue self insert" MC, for looking exactly like what chunni fantasy MCs look like. They also deliberately put the "mary sue self insert" MC into situations where brute force with their powers would be impossible or would have ended up killing his love interests.

We should all bow down to the infinite wisdom of the best selling Western novelist who has attended "wrting class or literature class".

I really question how this MC made a gun in the first place... and later on a fucking Humvee with an HMG.

God damn Japanese training their kids to become 3D printers from such a young age. Must have spent thousands of hours practicing their solidworks and CNC skills under a waterfall in the himalayas.

Yeah, I like OP MC too

But not this CRAWLING IN MY SKINNNNNNNNNNN, THESE WOUND THEY WILL NOT HEAL bullshit

I swear to god I can hear both Linkin Park and Papa Roach start playing when I'm reading this shit

The most accurate description of MC so far.

I don't think that is a legitimate problem

well I just hope the ending won't turn out like oreimo or haganai

Warning for the spoiler below it is DISAPPOINTING

Spoiler

I like a definite ending please be it harem or choosing one(in this manga/LN/WN harem please)

I can't speak for Haganai, but Oreimo's ending was because

I like OP main characters... Much better than the typical "I'm not strong enough to defeat you but Ill try, oh no I'm dying, wait no, I can beat you now" every fights...

A realistic character doesn't fight like a typical shounen battle manga character. OP characters are not the solution to badly written battle scenarios.

Ignore this guy. It's thanks to Western editors that we got stuck with Frodo, as the MC for The Lord of the Rings.
OP charcters aren't any inferior to human level characters.

At the end of the day a story quality is not decided by the relatability of the MC, but by the ability of the author to write a cohesive and coherent world, and believable character development.

An OP character does not make a story boring, bad writing does. And a normal level or "weak"(not literally, cause a character may be physically strong and skilled, and still be "weak") MC, does not make a story have a better flow.
Arifureta is actually nothing to write home about, but according to him, Superman, Hercules, Odysseum, Arthur, Obi Wan(he was never actually defeated, and needed to "lose" to Darth Vader to actually ascend) are all shitty characters, because strong characters suck, no, wait, they are "boring".

The author and title tells you from the beginning that this series is a proverbial "Apple", yet you keep judging it for not being an "Orange" instead.

No, this isn't a series about the MC becoming the Strongest in the World, though in reality he's not actually anywhere near there at this point in the story. It's about what the MC chooses to do (and not to do) with the power he's been given. While you're at it, you might well be complaining about Death March giving its MC god-killing powers, level 310, plus an entire map's worth of top-tier endgame loot right from the start.

Quite right, an MC with inanimate matter transmutation powers being subconsciously attracted towards the most powerful, healing water producing magic stone in the dungeon is such a stupid idea... The author should have made the MC really work for his powers, like do 100 push-ups, 100 sit-ups, 100 squats and run 10km everyday.

I dont know why you are trying so hard to defend the author breaking many basic rules of writing a story. Trying to spin a mary sue self insert power wank fantasy as a "story about what the strongest chooses to do with his power" is hilarious.

Even a high school teacher wouldnt fall for this.

You really should look up what character development means. Its not about training to level up.

You want the MC to become the strongest in the world? Sure, he does this at the end of the series, or most of the story is a flashback showing how he got to being the strongest. You dont make him from the strongest in the first three chapters because of several plot devices.

[...]

One key element of adventure stories is how the characters grow and change over the course of the story. Arifureta has completely ignored this, because the entire focus is on how amazing the author's self insert is. The really sad thing was, it got the starting point right...the MC was likable and the readers could sympathize with him, and he faced realistic obstacles and problems. The MC is the underdog and has the readers rooting for him. It would have been perfect if the MC was able to slowly develop his powers, contribute to the party and gain the genuine respect of his classmates. That's character development right there.

I mean, come on, healing water that so conveniently allows the MC to get OP powers from eating demon flesh? Please. This would at best get a barely passing grade at high school level.

You're completely misunderstanding lol.  At no point did he say it is bad for characters to be strong, and trying to twist it to "weak characters are automatically good!" is just petty.

There is definitely an issue with self-insert mary sue MCs, not sure why you're trying so hard to defend the idea of them.

You know, you guys can still make points without throwing as many buzzword into your points as you can as if they were toppings on a pizza. You can argue for the legitimacy of strong, very powerful characters without calling characters in other works STUPID FUCKING PUSSY CUCK EMO or the person you're arguing with names or call them stupid.

These things are possible, I promise you, and you'll still get your point and ideas across. Hard to believe, I know.
