Stalker galore?

Thanks for the update.

Loved it, got real proud for ei-chan getting the recognition from all the spectators

@Hardboiled

I do think it is more of Author attempting to illustrate the various backdrops and depict the reality of Sportsman; how being able to do what they are doing. I have read up on a few Sportsman and I realize, often some of the most successful Sportsman really do not have a choice in what they are doing - it is usually a by chance discovery and an all-in effort (especially Monetary) to attempt to realize their aspirations.

It seems like a typical Shounen thing, but is anyone else annoyed at when they go into a long ass explanation about the opponent's rough life/past, as if that's supposed to make us feel something for them, and give some sort of extra?  I notice this happens, and then our MC wins, and we either don't see this enemy again, or they somehow join the "Crew."  It just always seems to happen before, and during fights....

@maffa made a lot of valid points, and

also Maruo has lost a lot, so if they join the "crew", we know why they put so much effort, so we don't have to make a flashback for him when he's training again, in the end the story is focused on Maruo but the main point is how he arrives to the circuit, so we need to know the world and how each player got there too, having only one viewpoint of a player would get tedious in the long run.

yes and no. in sports manga like this, it's the understanding of our MC that the other players are fighting their own war. Any player Maruo defeats is a player that gets nearer to give up on being a professional. He already offed a couple, and now this one stands in his way. Keep in mind that the circuit is made by a relatively small population, and that the tennis community is a big gossiping village. Getting to know these players is nothing unheard of even in RL.

A week ago this is what Blitzfang's Angelic Scan (their translator) posted on www.reddit.com/r/babystep:

Hello there fellow readers. I hope you're enjoying the chapters (although they've been a bit slow as of late).

I've just finished my exams and will be trying to work hard in the short break I'll have before the madness starts once more.

With this I'd like to ask anyone with even the slightest Japanese comprehension skills to consider helping out with the translation. You don't need to be an advanced user to help out. Also, if you're trying to improve/maintain your language skills this is a great way to do so!

I will of course help you with any words, sentence structures, grammar that you might not grasp. So if you possess (or are willing to learn) the following, please consider joining our wonderful team:

-Complete mastery of Hiragana and Katakana, the Japanese syllabary (any kanji is a plus)

-Basic vocabulary (conversational words)

-Basic grammar (VERY basic sentence structure, basic particles etc)

Japanese is only so hard as you yourself believe it is. If you're interested and/or have any questions, join the discord server https://discord.gg/JNmTTAF or leave a reply here!

This has been a plea from a lonely translator. Thank you for reading!

so...

has baby steps been dropped once more? say it isnt so!

No, he's just realizing something tall players in sports like tennis or badminton have problem with: low balls. The big height advantage helps them reach high balls and smash with ease (not to mention serves), making things very difficult for shorter players. On the other hand, if a skilled player can manage to get the ball low, it forces them to bend over constantly to reach it, making life very tiresome for them and resulting in better chances to score because they can't attack properly from such a low position. Of course, it's way harder to actually execute than in theory but it's the beginnings of a strategy at least.

I played in high school. I'm short. It takes a lot more energy for the tall player to get low than to stay high. Especially given how Mauro plays the low positioning will be extra effective when Pete can't accurately predict when the low shots are coming. Adds an extra layer of tension and mental fatigue is real.

Oh.

I read too much in it then...

not sure about the solution Eiichiro found. Does he want to feed Pete with weightless balls in order to counter his power?

And also throw low balls to make it harder to him (since he's tall).

Maruo went to America for 2 months to train for the "All Japan Championship" tournament,

but after 1 month of training he's gonna participate in another tournament.

i get that he wants to play against stronger players but isn't he overworking himself?

Beach Tennis saves Maruo!
