Oh god. This is fucked up. Bokura no hentai went to dark places but has some hope and was really educational and all.... This....idek
Very intrigued to see how this is going to turn out.

What nice magical powers.

Well this is confusing.

Looks cute, but then I saw it's by Fumi Fumiko...

First thing you should do when reading a manga from him (author of Bokura no Hentai) is "brace yourself!@

WHAT AM I SUPPOSED TO BE THINKING!? WHAT AM I SUPPOSED TO BE FEELING?!

So is this what it feels like to slam the gas to the floor and then forcibly shift into reverse halfway?

Jesus christ.

okay, when i first saw that horn i thought "no way are they referencing 'the crying of lot 49'" but now that they've gone all the way with a dark post office called trystero i am certain that that is exactly what they're doing. never thought i'd see a thomas pynchon reference in a manga. what a time to be alive.

Thought the same thing when I saw the horn symbol popping up earlier but couldn't believe what I was seeing until this chapter.

It's not rape if their pupils turn into hearts

....

No, just not, and I'm not going to ask any lawyer about that

"the meme is strong with this one"

Is this actually what it says or are death toll just cancer?

The Star Wars quote goes like フォースの強いやつだ, while the raw reads ネタ感の強いかっこだね.

I... have no idea what that means.

My understanding of the raw is something like "(Hana - understood subject) firmly/resolutely has a strong/powerful sense of the joke material, ne?" and in the end, something like "This girl is a powerful trope, right?". I like Koala's translation better because it conveys the meaning, provides a cultural subtext, and drops the "ne".

And for grins... Google Translate's version: "It's a strong parenthesis story."

edit : checked the japanese dub of ANH, it actually sounds like 強いフォースを感じる

I've always thought that's the best way of doing things. It made Satanophany way more enjoyable to hear the commentary, but knowing that I can actually believe what was in the bubbles is accurate HUGELY important to me. Notes in the margins are easily ignorable if I don't want to read them too (they're small, and I'm used to not reading them when they're SFX translations and whatnot).

Then let me qualify my previous statement a little.

Although I can translate from Japanese, I haven't checked the raws myself. What I can say with confidence is that the translation of that bubble captured the gist of the original if not the wording. I doubt they have a Star Wars-inspired structure in Japanese such as "the X is strong in this one". What the translator had in his hands was probably something like "this girl is like a living meme" said in a sarcastic way, so he decided for a structure Western readers could relate to while preserving the meaning. I'm just speculating, though.

Translation always involves making choices and there's no such thing as perfect accuracy. Since these are fan translations, I wouldn't be surprised if some liberty is taken where wording is regarded. Sometimes, the proofreader may contribute a different wording, too. But yes, at least in Death Toll, we do our best to convey the correct meaning.

Nope, it's the real translation. We may write derision in notes, but never in bubbles. The translator would have killed the typesetter otherwise.

(And the translator has vetoed derision in notes for this series, so the margins will be safe in future chapters. Chapter 02 is at proofing right now.)

Honestly, I find this series a lot more mild than the comments led me to believe. It's still dark, mind you, but so far nothing's made me NOPE very hard compared to a lot of other drama stories. I'm real curious where it goes though.

(Also, I'm super glad the MST3K style translator commentary stopped after the first chapter. I hate when people do those. They're never funny.)

Wow... i'm actually surprised that the "kind looking manager girl" is.. well yeah... Here's hoping for some murderous loli's taking bloody vengeance?

Even I'm a lolicon, still find this manga to be distrubing. You simply don't treat loli that way.

So...   Now that stories where cute kids die one after the other have become common enough to be a genre, the mangaka has decided to change things up and rape them instead?

GUYS I GET IT NOW THIS MANGA IS A
Spoiler
So yeah with some smut and stuff We only need one more tag I guess.
Thanks for the update but... What the fuck is going on?????

Fair enough, looking forward to more.
