That first page pLJpUu4.png

They have no tank and they're all squishy dps with no escapes or aggro dumps.

It's called being a dodge tank, and the role typically involves a combination of pulling and kiting, and the Doume seem like the cunning but still somehow dumb type.

SWTOR Ranged tanks FTW

How can the cliff of a 47 something page chapter hurt me more than the cliff of a flipping 7-page one? kudos to the author for pulling it off.

From here on, the scenario of this arc seems pretty straightforward. I'll take a guess:

What I foresee is Kaname winning the duel, but the result is a loss of time and the population starts to get decimated.
The old chief dies.
Kaname wins the game by a hair's breadth by defeating the super duper greyed out boss (on the right side of the targets/rewards list) that no one has spoken of yet (trying to keep suspens?), while the insurance guy is erasing the village.
Wether the samurai dies or comes out of the duel alive, it doesn't really impact the story. If he doesn't die, he'll make a great new chief for the few survivors. If he does, Kaname will grief and be all the more enraged to win the game.
Kaname will save what's left of the population (per the oracle). So at least we know this much; he'll get "goodie" points in the end.

Let's see now how wrong I was at the end of the arc :D .

Well... if you really want to know the answers...
Spoiler

So yeah. I answered your questions, but didn't add any spoilers that you didn't ask for. ;)

I discovered this manga this morning and read it in one go.
I like it although it has it's flaws. Mainly with the scenario and narration.

I always get really frustrated--and then even more frustrated--, when a character falls for the “Will you kill an innocent man / woman?” hypocritical guilt trip. Despite the lack of proof and the protests of innocence, Kaname has been beaten for confession they wish to hear with a promise of death sentence when he does so, but there is suddenly a moral qualm and leniency when the inquisitor claims innocence? Seriously? More radical people would likely kill the man on the spot, moderates would likely be fine with a stab to a limb or at least with an immediate incapacitation, and virtually everyone with a measure of cool-headedness (something Kaname has been shown to have before, which makes this a character retrogression) would point out the hypocrisy. I find this incredibly frustrating!

Moreover, regardless of Kaname's conflict with the enemy D-Gamers that is going to help the villagers one way or the other, Kaname lost any reason to proactively side with the villagers the moment they started to behave as a light-weight Spanish inquisition. And yet we all know that he’s going to do it because of “the MC's good guy guideline”, and this is ultimately going to make them see the light and yield a story-relevant reward. This is beyond frustrating!

Cheers!

PS: Thank you for the chapters!

Its not a moral guilt trip, as much as it is a threat of sorts.

"If you are really innocent as you claim, are you going to kill an innocent too to scape?"

A muderer would have no problem killing the 3 and running away.

An innocent man would, since he would prefer to remain innocent of murder.

Therefore his question.

ch 33, girl claims that water is the natural enemy of chemists... what a moron

i miss Shuka and Kaname together ;c

Man this arc is so fucking shit I swear to god

I fail to understand why Kaname can't just knock them all out

Is this development pretty fucking retarded? Yeah. Is this also slow as all hell? Yep. Do I still like this series a fuck ton? You bet your ass.

This chapter is the last of tome 11.

Don't worry, you will have a lot of fight in t12.

kaname should kill all of em and win the game

its iziiii~

boring, just kill these shits already and move on to the fight with Kanehira

if he did that then everyone would be complaining about how he's such a classic shonen mc

Hey, samurai guy, come back when you're a main character

The recent story revealings remind me of Dragon Drive crossed with Shingeki no Kyojin.

but I guess purely

would be a better fit plotwise.

Hopefully with better endings then both of those series.

Eden's ending still frustrates me to this day...

Just kill those stupid idiots villagers. Commoners. Plebians. Just kill 'em already. Plsss...

Still salty about how Eden no Ori was axed...

The story is intricate, the art is detailed...

But I cannot get over how weird everyone's face is.

Their mouths and eyes are way too close together. They look like ducks.

If anything they seem too far.

Using gaming terminology, they could just aggro and/or bait the Doume to the other camp and then kill off as many of the weakened ones as they can, unless there's such a thing as an indirect PK in the rules, but most games don't recognize a kill like that as such.
