collapsed for space

I completely feel you, especially on the last part. (Although I'd have closed with "Believe it!" just to twist the knife, because I'm evil.)

collapsed for space

All that said, I'm still following it and I'm grateful to the scanlators for the amusement it provides. So the author is doing something right, even if it's unintentional comedy. (^_~)

Man, I like the imouto.

But she's just can't hold a candle to these two great girls.

damn that last

where the doujin ? pls

Pretty sure will come out next comiket when anime aired :P

Finished all chapters.

It's good. I would totally buy this ih it's released in France in the future.

Man, after reading through this, I had some flashbacks to when I was a teenager with dreams of becoming a bestselling author.

I wonder if it's too late to pick the hobby back up again.

I think you grossly underestimate the average reader's thirst for unfiltered garbage. For example, both you and I are currently reading this manga, and I can think of quite a few English-language books that sold spectacularly despite being criticized as mindless tripe. Also, authors and experts in general can be very disappointing in person, or outside of contexts specifically dealing with their area of mastery. Even a true genius of their craft can come across as boorish, silly, or idiotic, and expectations of those who deal in salacious fantasies should be even lower. Third, Japanese sales numbers cannot be compared to international numbers, since most novels (not just light novels) end up being published as numerous cheap tiny booklets instead of the large mass-market paperbacks in the US (even a relatively short, "literary" novel like Norwegian Wood was published in two volumes). 4 of the top 6 best-selling Japanese novelists each wrote over 300 books. This tends to inflate total sales numbers accordingly.

Therefore, the ridiculous characters of this novel could be thought of more as comically exaggerated rather than as outright unthinkable. Reading a work entitled "Eromanga-sensei", you should be prepared to accept a lot of silliness from the start.

It's not that I don't get that Fifty Shades is one of the best selling novels of the decade, or that authors can't be eccentric or socially awkward or incapable in other areas of life (or rather, the stereotype is that they tend to be so). It's that I can't believe these characters have any talent towards writing, crafting stories, or tapping into the public's thirst for tasty garbage. With the exception of Elf, who has at least followed some of the cliché of the so-called "eccentric genius," nothing about these characters are convincing to me.

They come across to me as stupid and incapable, unlikely even by accident to write the next Sword Art Online, at best only able to ape the latest Isekai-Slave-Harem-Bullshit. OK, that maybe enough to follow a trend, but the numbers being touted by the author here is far too exaggerated.

Most decent authors are able to at least create some impression that their "artist" character is capable of creating works, even if we never once see them write or draw or sculpt or make music. Genius little girls are more common than not, and people roll with it. But I don't get the same impression here, and that's a problem. The "core" cast are supposed to be popular writers (+ illustrator), but Elf is the only one I can somewhat shut down my disbelief for. The rest just comes across as "create a generic character, call it a writer, add Dragon Ball power level sales number. Believe me, folks."

I'm only a few pages in, and I'm already having flashbacks to Kirino's fake dates in OreImo.

The harem shenanigans aside, my biggest problem is that these idiots do not make for convincing super popular authors, like, at all. Hi, I am Generic Harem Girl In Kimono, I have zero demonstrated sense of literary skills, learning, poetic talent, and/or the ability to capture a generation's zeitgeist. I communicate with my crush by being socially awkward and bitchy. I write with old fashioned tools because wut iz computerz. By the way I outsell Harry Potter.

Unless this author's Japan's readership are crying out for a hundred Stephanie Meyers, I just don't -believe- it.

Damn Elf just went full thirsty and cemented herself as best girl.

No boobs, no love. >_>

The big bro give that legolas look alike
"please continue like I wasn't here" expression.

Just reading chapter 4 and got to page 9 and just... no no NO NONONONONOOOOO even if that's true I don't want to know it, I choose ignorance on this subject!... and besides this is fiction.. it's all fiction *rocking back and forth in fetal position*

*later reads the next page*

yeah, reaction is justified, i'm not crazy...

well think of it like this. It's like a guy going up to a girl he just met and saying I love boobs. So yeah nothing will ever make what she said appropriate.

Thank you very much for the megadrop, One Time Scans. I'd been missing it and hoping it would show up, but after reading them in one clump I'm very glad for the timing.

It's fun to go back and reread everyone's January comments and chapters 19 on. Having just now read 24 through 29, I felt much the same as many people wrt

(spoiler through current chapter 29)

What a disgusting title

i take it the author just a perverted old man with siscon fetish he could not think anything else better than something with "imouto"

I feel for you, knowing from your later comment that by "title" you meant "series". I can't judge the accuracy of this sentiment, but FSM knows I've winced to re-read posts and realize why people thought they meant something different.

Not gonna spoil anything, but you're exactly right on the nose. It becomes very interesting in the next few chapters.

Thank you for not spoiling. If I'd been in your shoes, I'm afraid I might have unintentionally given something away.

Haha fuck amateur authors. Here's two who do it for a living, kindly get fucked.

Nice """"""contest.""""""

Pretty much. But re-reading, I wonder now about the exact wording... nuance can be a b!+@# sometimes. (chapter 22 spoiler)

Spoiler

I would give chapter 24 a million points out of a hundred.

Damn Elf just went full thirsty and cemented herself as best girl.

I don't know if this is the manga he's talking about but Ichigo 100% did something close.

lets not forget good ole shuffle

Why would anyone sort a chapter to 1006?

"By default, the sort order is volume x 1000 + chapter. Only numbers (1, 12.5) are accepted."  I'd guess someone uploaded with the volume number factored in, and then the new uploads didn't.

A post on the QA forms was made, so this should be fixed at some point in the near future.

Hover your mouse over the link to the chapters: you'll see a tooltip with something like "Ch 29 Read online | Sort: 29". Look at the sort numbers for chapters 22 and 6.

If you're reading this on a touchscreen device, then find a desktop and look at it using a mouse. You'll understand what's going on, then.
