Really glad to see that someone is continuating it. Best of luck.

Well maybe, but you know, living has a 100% death rate. Hiding away at the base of the mountain isn't going to prevent death, it's just going to change the location.
People die all the time doing dangerous hobbies and sports. It's just the risk you take on. Outlawing it won't stop people, it'll just prevent people from getting proper training, which would raise the death toll even more. I'd say if anything, more training and public awareness of mountaineering would be a good thing.

yup i agree as a climber myself , knowledge is important and when we research all of the accident happens even in the manga most of the time is human eror even in real life there is no such things as we call equipment malfuction . if the accident happen and the cause is the eqp it can be be traced back to human eror .
climbing is a wonderfull hobby and sport but like this manga safety is important sometimes rule and practices are there for a reason

This manga makes it seem like they should outlaw mountain climbing, considering the death rate.

So we find out the reason of the series name.

Vol. 2, ch. 2...

AAARRRGGGHHH!  Once again, I've encountered the most often misspelled word in the scanlation community!

It's "Separate", NOT "Seperate".  Does NO ONE use a dictionary any more!!?

~Ol Pervy continues to rant and rave about his own private pet peeve about spelling for another four and a half hours before collapsing in an exhausted heap in his favorite corner, curling up in a fetal position and mumbling vile curses against such a cruel world that allows the word, "separate", to be continually abused.~

thanks for updating. it's been so long

Yeah I'd really like to live free like this. but Montain Climbing looks really expensive...

More than anything, I thin that'd be the time off from work and travel expenses.

Gorram... so many times I click this and enjoy the emotions.

To be honest, Sanpo's living pretty much exactly the kind of life I wish I could live... mountain climbing is awesome.

Thanks for picking this up!

Spoiler

Woo! It's back! I love this series. Thanks!!!

Well that's Volume 1 out of 18 done. Who knows how much longer I'll continue with Gaku but I'll try to get a few volumes done at least. Heres the trailer for the movie: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NmcPJRjqvsI

For references sake, when this manga won the 2008 Manga Taisho award, it beat 11 other nominees.  These include Yotsuba&!, Kimi ni Todoke, Umimachi Diary, Natsume's Book of Friends, and Moyasimon: Tales of Agriculture.

The 2009–2015 awards went to Chihayafuru, Thermae Romae, March Comes in Like a Lion / 3gatsu no Lion, Silver Spoon / Gin no Saji, Seaside Town Diary / Umimachi Diary, A Bride's Story / Otoyomegatari, and Kakukaku Shikajika.

Personally, I think it's leans rather heavily on certain sentiments, but then again so do many of the above titles.  Well, even if it seemed a touch heavy-handed, it managed to surprise me and I enjoyed all the chapters I read.

All those are great manga.

I think put the rest of them in my reading list then.

shiiiit

dem feels man...love this manga

I don't how to describe the emotion I felt when I read this manga.

Even if you don't want to become a mountain climber, Gaku is still the kind of person you want to be. He is an amazing guy for sure.

Best manga of 2008 and 2009 and best manga about mountain climbing. I guess it's not enough for it be scanlated... Thank you piles of useless slice of life, ecchi and filler mangas...

Its not the best manga about mountain climbing but definitely a good one. Well. There is not much stuff about mountain climbing anyway.
I'm too sad that this manga is not translated :(

Why not translate this manga... So many shit mangas are being translated instead of this masterpiece...

Ehh, wouldnt mind continuating it if I had translations :/
