Yeah, I know. I've had a lot of other series pop up (mainly GuP Ribbon Warrior) that needed some assistance.
That, plus I've been a little too lazy.

But the good news is that I finally got that series to be somewhat self-sufficient, so I can focus on Groundless and other series that have been neglected now. Here's hoping this doesn't take another 3 months, hehe.

At least it is somewhat self-sufficient at this point. At least Ribbon Warrior got some updates in the meantime, but it's good to hear this hasn't died.

Sorry for the long delay (like always), but life gets in the way of things you want to do...

Good news is that Ch. 18 will be finished much quicker once I get the TL script. Everything else was already finished before hand during the gap.

Hope you all enjoyed it~!

I just pick this up yesterday and read them all in one go and I LOVE IT!
Thanks for translating this! Wish the latest chapters had more sniping in them but I understand Sophia not wanting to be used.

I do not usually see an 19th/early-20th century manga that depends on rifle and ordinary war equipment in battles. Usually it will contain a little something of extravagant like magic, supernatural, or even sci-fi if not the protagonist will usually depend on some classical gentleman weapons like sword and spear or so much OP he can roll all others army with just one tank.
Others that I think a little similiar to this manga.
Imperial Guard (Remember Russo-Japanese war? A little bit fantastical story loosely inspired from the event with some dragon in the background)
Gunka no Baltzer  (A fictional story based of european situation in 19th century)
Golden Kamuy (A Japanese takes on Western genre. Ainu-style, and with cooking!)

lol poor molotov guy.

Thanks for update!

Hope you all liked this chapter!

I know it's been a little slow on the action recently, but fear not! For this finally starts the Battle of Kagerizaka, and we will get to see the brutality of city fighting!

Yay! CQC and all that!

Expect the next chapter within 2-3 weeks (depending on scheduling).

Poor Sophia ;)
Thanks for the chapter!

tbh, the tank design are terrible. there is a logical or reasoning why most of tank have their gun at middle of the turret, so I can't really understand why in this comic had the tank gun placed at the side, why? There is another tank which is (I might say) normal, having the gun tank at middle, then why not stick with it?
If their tank is Pz. 1 Series then it's normal but their reference is not, their tank like crossbreed between german and chinese tank, so weird.

well, I apologize for nitpicking and pushover, it can't be helped, I just slightly disappointed and annoyed with it

If you look at tank designs though history, you'll see that some actually did have guns placed at the side. I would guess it has to do with the loading mechanism, trying to be space-efficient, or somthing like that. It might not be optimal, or even good, but LOOOOOTS of equipment that gets sent into combat (especially in wartime when the process is rushed) is/has been utter rubbish anyway. In short, there is real-life precedent so it's not completely up the walls crazy, and beyond that all the reason the author needs to implement it is that s/he likes the aesthetic of it.

I keep forgetting but how many factions are there fighting in this war?

Generally speaking, there are 2 main factions:

The Alistrian Island Army (lead by the Island's colonial power-backed government) fighting against the Citizen's Liberation Army (dissenters and other people unhappy with the current political and economic situation on the Island due to the disease outbreak and widespread famine).

For most of the towns and cities on the island, the Army is seen as either a tool of iron-fisted rule or as well-armed peacekeepers. But, those same towns still have to police themselves when the need arises, hence all the militia activity. These militias have a duty to their home city first, not the Island as a whole, hence why Dacia's militia is doing everything out of their own needs rather than for the common good. Some militias are little more than armed police while others are like Dacia's full-blown organized military.

So essentially you have a sort of confederation going on. Each town has their own hold on power in their immediate surroundings (like a city-state), while the central government lays out the rules and edicts set forth by the colonial motherland to keep "peace" between cities and races (abet, poorly).

Whelp, that was a bit of an extended background lesson. More interesting details about both the political situation and the military operations will be revealed in the coming chapters, so just hang tight till then...

Well, I'll help you with this one.

Apparently the tank that the new characters use is an older model tank, and probably is pretty antiquated for the Island Army's standards, but they probably have to use what the can get. The newer tanks look more in line of what we know of as a standard tank, but the older ones have the weird placement of the main gun.

Hope it helps, and I hope all of you enjoy this new chapter!

Next chapter will get a little more action than this, but it will gradually get better and better. That's just how the author makes the volumes: a gradual rise in action from the first to middle chapters then either a plateau/resolution or a comedic last chapter.

if it's something like to differentiate between older and newer tank then it's understandable, similar like when the first era of steel when many weird tank popped up.
anyway ...
When I read the first chapter of vol. 4 I didn't saw it clearly about vol 4 cover page. at first I thought it was Panther (because the chassis part) but then after few pages the turret actually belong to (or referred) Tiger I, lol

We need to stop Sophia abuse. :/

No, Sophia is for bullying!

Seems like chapter 11 skips past 12(1) straight to 12(2), FYI, even though it looks fine on this main page.

Huh, you are right.

Must be the sorting order, I'll fix it.
