Oh this author, the author that makes me want to murder all his main characters for so many reasons.

LOL chapter 3, I called 100% that that was gonna happen considering this author. Only 3 chapters in and I already want to kill every single one of the characters. That's a record even for this author.

And yet... you keep coming back for more.

After extensive research (of the comment section of anything by Seo Kouji), I have discovered a new phenomenon I hereby christen: SeoKouji effect.

SeoKouji Effect:  A psychological phenomenon where the afflicted party reads a work by Seo Kouji and develops uncontrollable hate and/or rage at one or more characters presented.  They then proceed to declare their angst in the comment section, where it is implied that they have read most if not all of Seo Kouji's previous works AND that they will likely continue to read any forthcoming works despite their discomfort.  See related conditions: Masochism, Self-Mutilating Behavior, Depression, Male Protagonist Envy, Harem Envy.

'Seo shouldnt have serialized this, he just wanted money'

bloody hell guys i dont like Seo either but u think he's running a charity? why all the bitching? u like the one-shot? good for u then, u can always imagine that the one-shots story is 'canon' nothings stopping u, not like it has been scrapped or sth lol

Bloody hell, some of the commenters really are very upset about the extended adaptation...

I for one appreciate it for the fact that it gives the story a bit more room to breathe and gives their relationship the space to develop naturally. The one-shot kinda foreshortens that slightly.

I also don't feel that the the intimate scenes were out of place. A developing physical intimacy is generally very much a part of a developing relationship and frankly I prefer that it be portrayed rather than it be swept under the carpet due to prurient concerns. Going off topic slightly that is part of my general concern that physical intimacy is generally shunned in media (especially when it has strong emotional overtones rather than focusing on the mere physical act) whilst physical violence is widely acceptable and core to many media.

I feel like in the US/NA scene, violence is more accepted, but from what I hear, intimacy is more accepted in Europe. I feel like it's just a cultural thing that I've grown up with to be more hesitant towards sexual portrayals.

I agree, for a different reason:

They were forced to share sensations, so how this would play out in terms of physical intimacy gives it a fresh spin.

Spoiler

Truly he is a man amongst men for what he does in the end. [Cries manly tears.]

Seo Kouji shouldn't have made it in a serialsation . seems like Seo Kouji needed some money and came up with this idea.

Better then anything else he's done that isn't a one shot or Princess Lucia.

only a god could be so vulgar and yet so cruel

Thanks to the staff of Red Hawk Scans for their work in this manga. I liked this story and I liked its ending; the original oneshot is still my favourite work from this author but I am quite pleased with this serialization even if it is not as good as the original. I guess that this backs my opinion that Seo's works are decent or even enjoyable when they are short, all his long series become unbearable after certain number of chapters but his oneshots and short stories are mostly ok. Thanks again.

Chapter Final  And Now Alone

I have maintained the fact that One Shot is far far far better than this Serialisation . forced ecchi is an eyesore and Theme of the story changed considerably .

So Yuuki has a son now and is Single Mother . wow .

Pregnancy was predictable but the way characters reacted and that letter from ShinIchi Made it all more Hilarious .

It was a serialsation to protray the good figure of Yuuki.  it was like a photoshot of a AKB model and now she has retired and has become a good Mother.12 chapters of photoshot.

Yuuki Chan found a family and this is only good thing came out from this story.

One Shot is better and dealt with real human emotions .

Was I the only one that saw it coming? I have a feeling that I've already seen something like this before... It's not the best ending I've seen, but isn't the worst either, let's call it "Half & Half".

Nah, was one of the more obvious ending. Have seen it before.

Good story. One of the ones I prefer from this author. But I gotta wonder, what did he die of?

nice ending... very nice ending...

Call me a grouch, but I'm not at all satisfied. I think it's because everything's basically magically better in the end because kids. That's something of an exaggeration, because Shinichi's still dead, but Yuuki still ends up happy and with a mostly perfect life for no real reason. That's... kind of entirely contrary to the themes of the manga. Half & Half has, up to this point, been largely about how life is awful and unfair but still worth living anyway. It's been about finding meaning and love in what little good there is. That's a pretty inspiring message, but it's not a bright one, and it doesn't mesh with the "my life is perfect now except for the one imperfection" tone of the last chapter. As it stands, the final takeaway is less about perseverance and resilience, and more about finding some guy who'll knock you up and then sacrifice himself so you can be happy.

It's surprisingly good, just like the oneshot.

Good thing i skip chapter 3,4,5,6

and what up with chapter 8?

seo is frustating because he has more haters than fans and more than half of his fans is haters?

well I guess this ending is the other half of the original ending...

Now time to make the alternative ending where they both live :o

Wasn't this the same ending as the original story from the mid-90s?

I have read this ending multiple times in spoilers.

And Seo strikes again! In our hearts!! With a DAMN F****** KNIFE OF FEELS!!! Well, a rubber knife maybe...

There could be a better ending... well whatever the manga has reached the end *hugs pillow*

Nice ending...until a Truck ends it all.

Ah so they went this route after all. This was one of the more likely endings. It was either something like this, or the same ending as the one shot. I would have been fine with another overly happy ending. In fact I would have preferred it, but I have no qualms about this one. Seo ended this manga at a pretty good place too. We've all seen that he tends to mess around when a manga drags too long hahaha. I wish he'd more make manga like this and less troll.

Yeah to me it was a bit of an asspull, but now I think about it, it was pretty well thought out. It took me a while to figure that she might be pregnant (how she said she didn't want to die). The best that Seo did with his manga

You're not alone.

Spoiler

I don't think zygotes can think. Otherwise, I liked the ending.
