Ever since the day Ran Kurono's older brother, was killed while protecting Sei Ohtori, she has dedicated her skills and life to one day becoming the First Knight of the next head of the Ohtori family, even concealing the fact that she's a woman forever. For generations the Kurono family has served the Ohtori family as their First Knight, but 11 other lower knights with ill intentions of using the Ohtori family's authority vie for that title. Not only that, but Sei is being tested to see if she is suitable for having the title of head of the family. Upon entering Saint Locks Academy, the days of both Ran and Sei's trials begin, all the while being helped by Sei's untidy and unrefined fiance, Ibara Tennou.

To be fair, there wasn't anything particularly bad about this series.

It's just there wasn't any emotional impact whether it be the romance, the duels/fight, the secret at the end or even the friendship.

The friendship was probably the better aspect amongst everything.

There wasn't anything too annoying with the series.

I did like that the mangaka stuck to Ran's character and never had her appear in girls clothing or act out of character.

Tbh it did dampen the romance for the female MC to be so strongheaded to lack any feminine/cute charm, but her character was consistent.

Not the most memorable manga, but there's a lot worse out there. It's a decent read.
Great series! I thought the scenes declaring friendship and brotherly love had more feels and tension than the confessions of romantic love. I like that in a way, but it meant the climactic confession was kind of a letdown...
I actually really liked how it ended! As a whole, it pressed really heavily on the gender essentialism stuff, which made me a little wary. Like, if the moral of the story was going to be "even if girls pretend to be men, they're still just girls, and they should stick to doing girly things and leave the real fighting to the manly man men", I would've thrown this entire series in the trash. Fortunately, it takes on those assumptions and uses them for dramatic tension and character growth, while challenging and acknowledging their condescending nature. Indeed, the futility of "protecting" someone by denying their own will is probably the most significant central theme of the story, second only to the fundamental premise that androgynous butler girls are hooooooot.

I can definitely see why others might say it felt rushed, or poorly executed. The pacing is definitely a little too brisk, and most of the tertiary relationships don't get nearly as much time to develop as the story demands of them, but I think the main plot threads are strong enough to justify themselves. I also think that the ending will absolutely leave some people cold, but I really love that pays off on one major relationship juuuuuust enough to be satisfying, while steadfastly refusing to undermine the entire reason the story even exists.

It's no great work, but it gets things right where so many other stories went completely wrong, and I respect it for that.
Terrible ending, it was way too rushed! So dissapointed!
I meant brother, haha, srry ^^

The premise was interesting, yet the execution less than expected.
I finished it, but, it didn't leave much of an impression.
All in all, 'twas so-so.
