I've read the raws. You won't be disappointed with the two main ships. But given that this is a shounen, they won't really explore that route and focus on the Koto for now.

I've done so too but it made just even more curious since I don't speak Japanese.

It feels way more like a seinen with a bit of shounen mixed in but it is pushlished in jump sq

takezou in reality what he's thinking

The competitions are great and really emotional but I also love takezou's and hiro's adorable budding romance.

Chika and satowa on the other hand, are going so slow I'll be satisfied if they even realize they like each other in the end.

I just hope that no troublesome kouhais are joining..

I've been waiting for this the hole month but I'm a greedy a***hole so I am hoping for a double post :D

can someone recommend me which KoT songs I have to buy the digital version? I plan to buy Tenkyuu and KuOn but don't really know about the others. Wanna emotional and good flow songs like them

well you can check out the songs on youtube. The links are in the thread in the forum. That would probably help the most since you can listen to them before buying

Anyone know where I can find a copy of The Running Dead? :P

Protect Hiro's smile

Soooo where is the karaoke part i want that part.

Of course we (kids?) like Takezo and Hiro.  They are a totally adorable couple (and thanks for the images).  We (I) also like Satowa and Chica, Tetsuki and Isaki, and Akira and Sensei.  It's almost a pity that there aren't any more females (other than Satowa's Mom, music store granny, and evil granny) for tAdachi, Kouta, and the other guy to go for (and please, no super deviant fan fiction about that).

Whenever the next year comes around (spring?), I'm expecting an influx of kouhais and for most of them to be girls.

Kind of like the works (most of them) by Adachi Mitsuru, the romance is kind of secondary to the sport (or music). I like it, because it allows the romance to proceed more naturally without every panel and every character's waking moment focusing on it. Subtle is best!

This manga just nails that balance as the characters develop their skills and become stronger together while forming close personal bonds with one another. Of course, you see this in hundreds of other shonen manga, but few execute this sort of progression at this high of a level, where the relationships between the characters feel really genuine.

P.S.  I won't allow any romance with Nene, damnit!!!

I heard you kids like Takezou and Hiro (from sensei's twitter):

Hm, it says that I need a local (japan) address when I tried to checkout. Did you purchase the songs by chance, and are you outside of japan? Sorry for the questions, I really want Tenkyuu OTL

I haven't actually bought it, so I may not be able to help. :( Have you tried using a fake or public address in Japan (e.g. the address of a hotel)? I've done that for video games, and that usually does the trick. You may have to use an Amazon Gift Card if they're only taking local debit/credit cards.

As someone who has participated in orchestral competitions in the past, we never had life affirming speeches after coming up short. In manga competitions, everyone does their best, and loses to other teams that are also doing their best.

The reality of competitions is that you rarely ever do your best, and that's what sucks about losing. People make mistakes, and sometimes you underperform. That happens to everyone, but no one seems to acknowledge that fact in manga.

Everyone in the group knows the mistakes that were made, and nobody wants to comment on them until some time has passed. More often than not after losing a competition, we'd basically leave in silence - everyone already well aware of their shortcomings.

I don't know, I relate to those aspects of this story, and even if it is a bit (or very) idealized, I think it's legit.

good point. Koto music is kinda plain...

Um... Huh?

QED

good point. Koto music is kinda plain, but for god sake let me see Houtsuki animated.

I disagree about what you and the other person (I'm too lazy to quote him/her as well) said about koto music being plain and boring. I've been listening to whatever koto music I can find on YouTube and I recently purchased the CD with this manga's music. Sure, some classic pieces can be sort of hard to listen to and maybe kinda boring, but that happens with a lot of classical music. But the original compositions, being more modern and all, are definitely easier to listen to (and truly beautiful). If you think about it, that's the whole issue that caused the club's advisor to be worried about Tenkyuu. It wasn't a classical piece and it had a rather easy to follow melody, but it was still worthy of winning. And if you listen to Ryuseigun and Kuon, the other two pieces our Tokise club has played, you'll see that both of them are awesome and beautiful. I don't think they could be called boring. Even Roku Dan, played by Hotsuki (there's a version on the CD) has a very beautiful charm (though I do admit that the Roku Dan, being awfully classic, can get a bit boring. But hey, it's only after eight minutes of listening to it and the anime wouldn't do that). And don't get me started on the songs of the other teams. Meiryou's Hyakka Fu is absolutely amazing.

The anime would be full of original compositions and modern takes of classical music. And even the classical pieces, that can get plain or boring for the uneducated ears (including myself, of course), wouldn't be performed for so many minutes that it would get dull.

So, uh... TL;DR No, I don't think it would be boring. The only thing that worries me about an anime is that the animation could be ugly and I don't want any ugliness to tarnish this beautiful story.

I am not worthy of Akira chan sensei's blush!!!

Oh, by the way, my total love is now given to Nene.  (Old man sucker light is going at the cyclic rate!!!)

Does anyone know if I can purchase Tenkyuu digitally via amazon.co.jp ? Or do I need to buy the whole physical album since I'm from the US? Thanks!

I'm also from the US (California).  Buy it!  I did, and it is totally worth it.  I received it three days ago and have probably listened to the whole album twelve or fifteen times, and I'm still not tired of it.  If you like koto, it totally rocks!!

You can get a digital copy here (it's the 12th song): https://www.amazon.co.jp/dp/B06XN6535C/ref=dm_cd_album_lnkThey also ship the physical CD with some posters and shit, if you rather get that. It ships internationally.
