...and I cried. Why did I think it was a good idea to read this before I left for work?

Spoiler

Well, that hit me right in the feels!

I read this chapter while listening to koto music, both classical and contemporary (fifty years ago).  I think that I shed as many tears as Satowa and her mother while reading it.  Manga doesn't get much better than this.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yegQRUhJkuMdoes anyone know the song that is 0:09 to 0:52 in this video??? it has to be from kono oto tomare right

That's "Kuon" from chapter 26 or 27

beautiful

Damn it. It's obvious that this was going to happen, but I still cried. Why does it tug my heart strings so?

1. Akira chan sensei is BAE.
2. Damnnnnn, Chika and Takezou got game. And Chika, you got it hard, boi.
3. Is this Shounen or Shoujo? I'm quite confused as the story is definitely shounen, but the romancr seemed to be written well.
4. Are they trying to pair Takinami and Akira chan sensei? Come on, mannnn...

Just passing by to answer no 3. It's shounen. While the common belief seems to be that stories are classified as shounen/seinen/shoujo/jousei based on their theme, story-type, and/or artstyle, that is not the case. The classification is entirely based on what magazine it is published in (by extension one could also say the target audience is the deciding factor). In this case it's Jump square, which is considered a shounen magazine, and thus the story is also shounen.
The misconception is a natural one. For example, most stories aimed at young boys (shounen) include "light" action, some comedy, not very deep plots (because it is assumed this is what young boys want to read). It's then easy to assume that this commonality is what makes them shounen, while in fact it's the other way around. Because they're shounen, they contain the elements it is assumed young boys like.

Oh man. The Heavens cry, indeed. Great story and beautiful imagery (I've also been listening to a lot of koto videos now, thanks to this!). I love the relationships building in the club, and that the author is approaching the story without leaving anyone behind. Each has done some personal growth, and even characters that are initially presented in a negative light have managed to become beloved. It really gives depth to the story when the author shows that each person has a past that shapes who they are and how they behave, and even a "bad" person can become sympathetic when that past is revealed. I really love that Akira has overcome her painful past and just blossomed as a beautiful character. I hope her brother appears a bit more :)

It's so refreshing to read a manga where the characters make an effort to fix problems quickly, and don't just stagnate in a morass of anger, jealousy, and uncertainty. The club members are facing themselves and each other very honestly, and that helps move things along quickly. I'm curious how the hinted romances will turn out, since there are so many oblivious people involved...and also wonder what other pairings might come in the future (Chika's aunt and his friend would be hilarious!).

That reporter has the best reactions to the music - I can't wait to see the final results of their performance! Though I can't help but feel that the mention of a "unjudged" mixed group also being chosen is a bit of foreshadowing...I'm actually a little sad that only one group can be chosen, since each of the three main schools was shown to have such an earnest and heartfelt desire to go to nationals. It sincerely made me want to root for all of them >_<

4. Are they trying to pair Takinami and Akira chan sensei? Come on, mannnn...

The mangaka is trying:

So, I've actually managed to read it all and I've got to say:

Overall, i love it.
Yo Tenkyuu sounds amazing.

AUTO BUY MAN

Please support by buying the CD. Ripping them off won't make an anime adaptation :(

I've never once been so much as tempted to buy a manga's audio CD before but...

Chapters like these remind me of Kokou no Hito (The Climber) because of how skillfully the mangaka shows what the characters are feeling through stunning artwork.  If you haven't read it, I highly recommend it--despite it having very little in common besides the artwork's level.

Reread those chapters 3 times now. Still amazing.
