Now I have to ask what is the base of what you say, what is the base that you use to say that that character is pretty much universally loved by the readers, if it is that popularity poll, I think that those numbers were really odd, too many votes in general and particularly too many votes for the option (character) that won , if would not surprise me if some fan or fans that have too much time in their hands and some knowledge about computers managed to vote thousands of times, just a conspiracy theory of mine.

Most likely the reason why there was so many votes it's because the poll was available for the internet, I mean, you can like a character all you want but if there's somo money barrier, even if it's small, you may not vote for him. So, since you could vote on the internet, people that like the character genuinely simply voted for him, that also explains why there was so little amount of mail letters, because you could do it quickly and free.

If you mean the Japanese poll King won that. Ban/King are the most popular in Japan. Hawk is basically the mascot character like Jack Frost, Sonic, Mario's mushroom, and Teddie from Persona 4.

What I want to know is: Is Gil part Druid too?

I have no idea about the tastes of children especially those from japan but I think that your comment comes quite close to the truth, if that kind of characters keep appearing in several stories it must be for the simple reason that that kind of characters (cowardly, boastful and all those thing that I have already mentioned) are popular, I don't quite understand the charm of those characters but that is just me and my tastes, I guess.

While drama is nice and all and usually creates all the more conflict to spice up stories ... it neither means that it has to result in tragedy nor that tragedy cannot be dealt with.

After all,  when done well, it's not as if these kind of "happy" stories aren't pleasant to read in their own way.

It might also just be because this is a shounen manga, probably aimed at children, and uh, I would think that children would like this kinda thing? =/

As expected of the author, this is going the same way than Kongoh Bancho followed: the bad guys aren't really bad, and former enemies join hands to defeat a greater evil.

as expected of the manga world* which begins to be quite boring...

As expected of the author, this is going the same way than Kongoh Bancho followed: the bad guys aren't really bad, and former enemies join hands to defeat a greater evil. Now Hendricksen is shaping up to be Nanatsu's Machine Bancho, and I'm totally fine with this.

But they lacked super buff ultra manly mountain of a man like kongou banchou has.

Lol I know he's justified in doing so, but that was such a dick move, Griamor.

Hendy shrugged it off like it was nothing, though.

But rather than seeing them going to investigate destroyed Danafor, I'd rather see what the heck Mel did to that place.

Does Hendricksen get a free loli, like Machine Bancho?

So once again the plot of Meliodas` sin is the center of all the plot :3

I am asking you this not to start a heated argument but because I really want to know why you say that, I never said that everyone hates that character just that is awful to me (even if I don't phrased it correctly the first time) but I guess that the general opinion about him is something like this: some hate that character, some love him and the majority of the readers are neutral or indifferent towards him.

so he wasn't bad to begin with ? meh

I for some reason started reading Hendrickson's lines in Liam O'briens voice. So badass }:D

The plot thickens once again. Wasn't it Meliodas who destroyed Danafor?

He said so, but we don't really know anything.

The plot thickens once again. Wasn't it Meliodas who destroyed Danafor?

Oh crap, another flashback.

Welp, character/story development. And aren't you curious as to who destroyed Danafor? They are hinting that it was Meliodas, but maybe the demon who possesed Dreyfus? Or who or what attacked Danafor to bring it to ruin? Many questions, and flashbacks hold the answer.

Oh crap, another flashback.

cant get enough of this !!

Spoiler

I just realized something... Somehow, I doubt even Escanor would be able to use this axe, with the way the handguard is placed...

Hawk isn't a awful character. He is loved by most of the readers. Which means that the author made a good work with him. What you think that is annoying is in reality the motive that he is loved by everyone else.

The case is that there isn't a single thing in the whole world that is a consensus.

I agree with some of the things that you say, instead of saying "he is an an awful character" I should have said "I think that he is an awful character" because in the end that is just my own opinion; I think that he is a completely useless character because I suppose that his main role in the story is being funny (and every once in a while doing something useful, contrary to his usual nature), so if he instead of make me laugh annoys me then to me he is not adding value to the story but on the contrary he is reducing it.

But then I have to confess that I have very little tolerance and empathy for that particular stereotype of characters (boastful, coward, useless) I dislike Mr Satan, Buggy, Usopp and I even disliked Falstaff when I saw The Hollow Crown, so I admit that my statement is biased even if I think that is supported on a solid base.

Well if that bothers you so much, you should stay away from the comments section at least for a while, because as long as the author keeps using that resource comments about it will keep appearing, not from me as I already said what I wanted to say and I am too fucking lazy to write the same shit every week; but hey I am not trying to start an argument as we seem to agree in the most important details:

Power levels are a useless resource in the story and that pig is an awful character (annoying, stupid, useless, arrogant to the point of being delusional  and the author made it even worse by giving him that stupid eye power) and this story would have not lost anything if the author would have had the balls to kill him in the last saga.

Counterpoint: power levels are nothing more than a crutch for lazy writers to pimp the villain-of-the-week/story-arc to the audience without relying on lame shit like exposition and backstory.  Galan has effortlessly blown the fuck out of the Sins; why, then, does the author feel the need to have Hawk give constant reminders of his power level? You can see that by looking at the fucking chapter.  Fuck, Helen Keller could see how strong this dude is.  These arbitrary numbers serve no purpose to the plot.  Show, don't tell.

Hendricksen blow out too. Meliodas needed to receive the attack of 3 sins and dozens of knights to finish him.

With power level, now we can see how hopeless is the situation.

And Hawk didn't give one single reminder of his power level. He said one time, then said that his power magic is 0.

And power levels are just artifices, they aren't necessary bad things. A lazy author will have trouble if he can't use it properly. Nakaba will have to work to give proper reasons to why the sins will power up so much.

Good chapter! The forbidden specs weren't even mentioned! Scouters aren't necessary here.

Amen

Best chapter in months thanks to the lack of power levels.

hurrr durrr power levels \o/
