Ozanari Dungeon

Alt Names: alt おざなりダンジョンalt 奇兵大冒險alt Dragon Ozanari Moka?alt Jovens Guerreirosalt Nữ dũng sĩ Maca ( Vietnamese )
Author: Koyama Motoo
Artist: Koyama Motoo
Genres: Action ActionAdventure AdventureFantasy FantasyShounen Shounen
Type: Manga (Japanese)
Status: Ongoing
Description: This manga follows the adventures of a group of mercenaries: the barbarian Mocha (the main character), the rogue Buruman, and the mage Kiliman (Blue Mountain and Killie Mountain, respectively, are famous coffee brands in Japan).

Mocha and her gang belong to a dark mercenary guild. Mocha, being a barbarian, has great physical strength and, of course, she has no brain. Despite her very revealing suit, she is very innocent, pure and naive. The story starts when a light master seeks to hire some mercenaries, and the guild refuses to help him since he has no money with him. So the dark guild master sends Mocha, Buruman, and Kiliman to aid him. It's really not a great start but this is how everything begins.

The author's drawing dramatically improves after volume 5. The plot becomes much more refined as well. It can be considered a typical adventure story. However, this manga goes a little deeper than that.

After volume 10 or so, the plot becomes really profound and deep. Dragons are involved, and whole nations go to war. The scale becomes quite large. Really enjoyable manga.

dammit, i made this comment just for this manga ( im usually a silent reader)

i click random manga , then this popped out, i own 1 volume of this manga translated in my country in the past,

this is fucking awesome, iam really feeling nostalgic now, after 14 years, please keep up the good works

Just took a look at volume 6, since the notes say that the artwork improves there. It seems the translator thought "Basuta" might be a misprint for "Master" -- nope, the character's name is "Basuta Kiton", an obvious reference to the very old (silent film era to start with) deadpan film star Buster Keaton. (Thought I'd mention it since I don't see it in the comments.)

in my country it's translated as buster keaton, well it's a early 19th comedian not everyone know it (even i just know that he is some comedian, from your post)

so sad that the last 2 volume never come out in my country

oh... and thanks POF Scanlations & Habanero Scans

hope you guys gonna finish it

Looks like there was a mistake in uploading the latest chapter. It's just chapter 80 again.

I just finished rereading this, so I'm hoping this gets dealt with soon.

Fixed.

I want one of the dragon lady's Mocha plushies
Just saying you guys are the best. It feels weird for something I've never read before feel nostalgic but this manga gives me that feeling. Great translation, though I always wondered why Mocha spoke like a dwarf. Is there an accent in the raws (I forgot what region Japan usually likes to make fun of - Osaka I think)?

Man, I always liked Buru geared arcs. He's like a mix of Bat and Krillin.

"Don't shake my hand" - Kiliman made my day.

.

Killy is my hero. He really deserves to be an Astral even more than Lal, but he's way too cool to bother. Just like Yona in a way.

I bet you forgot that Kiliman used to speak in the early chapters.

I did. I was so shocked I had to re-check with the older scans.

Now I wonder if the author remembers, himself....

I bet you forgot that Kiliman used to speak in the early chapters.

oh wow, this looked unfamiliar at first, then I noticed kiliman, and I remembered this was my childhood manga in indonesia

This was one of my favorite manga growing up. A word of warning, though: Ozanari Dungeon itself was canceled right around the start of its final arc. The continuation of the story came years later with the series Nariyuki Dungeon, Naozari Dungeon, and Ozanari Dungeon Special. Also, THIS MANGA IS AWESOME. Please POF and Habanero, continue scanlating the whole set of manga all the way to the end.

ahahaha sounds like a mess o_o

Seems to be the plan. We're also redoing the earlier volumes.

Oops, this chapter needs to be v2'd. Will do whenever the other guy is online.

Spoiler

Just wanted to say you are the best for updating this. Are you going to scan and translate the other ozanari dungeon series when this is done?

Wow is that Dungeon Meshi art I see?  Different author though?  Maybe a collaboration.

So why is most of this missing?

The translation group for chapters 1 to 59 didn't want their scanlations on manga reader sites. Still you can easily find it on some of the less scrupulous ones.

There's also a post on my blog (one of my first posts) on how to get them (I'd recommend downloading them since the quality on most reader sites is near-abysmal and often cropped).

So why is most of this missing?

You kind of have to, because they specifically didn't include those chapters in the 2009 10 volume re-issue.

*sigh*

Isn't the manga industry fun?

BTW, since he hasn't been introduced so far, the guy about to be eaten by Laius is Esprit the Astral, currently masquerading as Mocha's cheaty-ass magic sword. Mocha basically knows what her sword really is (so does Killy, but Buruman only suspects what's going on) and she doesn't really mind except for those times Esprit drags her into the outer-plane magic wars between the Astrals and the Black Dragon.

He's introduced in ch. 08, or the first chapter of the second volume if anyone wants to go back and read it.
