Sword Art Online - Alicization

Alt Names: alt Sword Art Online - Project Alicization
Author: Kawahara Reki
Artist: Yamada Koutarou
Genres: Action ActionAdventure AdventureDrama DramaFantasy FantasyRomance RomanceShounen Shounen
Type: Manga (Japanese)
Status: Ongoing
Description: Project Alicization, a top-secret government project run by Rath, a company affiliated with the Japan Self Defense Force (JSDF), was started to create the first highly adaptive, «Bottom-up AI». By using a 4th generation FullDive machine, called the Soul Translator (STL), Rath succeeded in copying the Fluctlights (souls) of twelve newborn babies, creating a «Soul Archetype», a non-developed Artificial Fluctlight that could be copied to create new Artificial Fluctlights, which would then need to be nurtured to mature into an individual. For this reason, a virtual world, codenamed «Underworld», was created using the free kernel version of the Cardinal System, The Seed, and then transferred into the STL mainframe via the Mnemonic Visuals feature of the STL.

Underworld is set in a past era, when science and philosophy were just being discovered, but instead of recreating a past era, limited terrain and certain customs were introduced so that the inhabitants of the world would form their own society.

Yeah I already read the latest translation. Yet there's still soo much story when I was reading the summary 2-3 years ago. There was a point when I was reading the summary and be like 'can this be over already'

The web novel summary is also garbage. Not only was a lot of stuff just glossed over, but it was also full of bias and, frankly, incorrect info. Not to mention that there are some LN-original scenes and scenes that were changed during official publication.

Instead of the summary, read the light novel. They are translated up to volume 17. Vol 18 will take a while though. Just take a look at the top bar on SAO subreddit.

If you guys are really desperate for the summary of the story, there's a webnovel summary floating around online. Its a really long story @~@ And at first I estimated 5-7 volumes before LN serialization. Looks like it might be longer.

are those books the LN or the manga? want to know what's with the holdup here with the chapters

The LN series is that long. The Manga is releasing really slowly, at one chapter every two months. Latest chapter was only 10 pages though, so the translators are kinda just prioritizing other stuff at this moment.

It makes up half of the main SAO franchise as a whole, in other words it's as long as the first two seasons of the anime.

10-HWAT? it's longer than the other arcs?

You ll learn at ~ch5 about the world these events take place. And i can assure you its not a game, nor are all these people just A.I.s. Just be patient, this arc consists of 10 books after all!

Cute shota...

So.... a game ?

Some scientist theorize that we could actually be living in a simulated world running on quantum computers complex enough to simulate anything. So the line between a hyperrealistic simulation and a game may begin to blur

So.... a game ?

Yes and no, it's more of a legitimate virtual WORLD than a game. The level of detail is far beyond that of a normal game, it is essentially a separate world. You'll find out more about that later on, though.

the setting is that instead of a game, this time he wakes up in a simulated world with high levels of detail.

So.... a game ?

Is this setting similar to "Reincarnate to another world?"

So this is how rogue A.I. NPC created

*punches BellyTom*

fuck you man why did you remind me of Mother's Rosario......right in the feels.....

*fetal position*

i didn't realize this arc get manga adaptation.. :D

Smells like... death flag!

can they stop re releasing the first chapter and just let me get the second one? >_>

The second one isn't even out yet. There's nothing to release until the 10th of October. It's a bimonthly release.

Correct me if I'm wrong since it's been a while since I've read the Alicization arc but, doesn"t Kirito retain his memory of the real world in the light novel?

you're at the wrong stage of the timeline.

it starts off with him testing the machine and system for those RATH people. at this stage, he loses his memory going in because it's a controlled experiment. the dive where he keeps his memory comes a bit further into the story.

........this is turning kinda like fate franchise

spin off spin off spin off

I think railgun/index is doing that, they now have an Idol spin-off

Thought it was an update

Spoiler

Holy Crap Nice xD

I been Prepurchasing each new Volume of Sword Art Online Progressive in Kindle,

I still did not start reading the 17th Volume yet, but will do soon :D

The Arts in Progressive and this one is Great,
