Description: Synopsis from light novel of manga that's also translated at https://alyschu.wordpress.com:

Minami Satoru who lived a normal life was stabbed by a passing ruffian, closing the curtains of the 37 years of his life… It should have been like this, at least. But he suddenly found himself not being able to see nor hear... In this kind of state, he became aware of the truth: he had reincarnated into a slime.

While complaining about becoming the weak but famous slime and enjoying the life of a slime at the same time, Minami Satoru met with the Catastrophe-level monster “Storm Dragon Verudora”, and his fate began to move.

——— After getting the name “Rimuru” from “Verudora”, and about to start a life in this new and unknown world, he was suddenly caught in a conflict between Goblins and garo (Fangwolves) tribes, and unwittingly became the ruler of the monsters…

With the ability [Predator] that can seize an opponent’s abilities and [Great Sage] that understands every rule and law of the universe—

The legend of the strongest slime with these two abilities as weapons, now begins!

So question, is the manga being done by an actual group or not? Cause it says no group but still gets updates. I keep getting comments to pick this manga but if it's done by someone else I am not interested in taking it.

official desc from batoto

"This is a reserved group for identifying any works that were not possible to attribute or anonymous. It may also be used by individuals who are publishing but do not wish to be identified as a "group" (Group of 1 is still is a group)."

so there is no group working on it.

I saw noticeable loss of quality in some pages using the gimp plugin.

yups, that can happen. you probably need to manually set the color matrix (or whatever the name is, i forgot) or clean it more, because for manga, 256 colors gray scales with dithering is already too much.

im usually free on the weekend, i would be happy to help with the png compression. just tweet or DM me the files via twitter

Well. now that ive read through the chapters and skimmed web novel, this is definitely more worth reading than Re:monster or maou no hajimekata.

Its a fun, great story but that doesnt mean i cant nitpick :D

This suffers from japanese naming sense.. meaning for some fucking reason, when things evolve into something nobody even knew could exist they have predetermined, long as year of famine, cheesy  name.. yah we get you storm tempest blizzard inferno hyper devourer earthdragon of destruction. Evolve it once more and.. i ran out of letters.

Some reason they also have to speed up progression in weird turns.. Like how they describe "this journey would take 3 months but voi-fucking-la and we are there in 3 days" or "constructing this would normally take a year but because we have 3 dwarves and.. well no other reason really.. its done in a week". Ok i exaggerated a bit.. but only a bit.

Its like.. author couldnt take his time to travel but (spoiler from web novel content)

Spoiler
This makes time progression feel a bit goofy.

Also, Kawakami seems to have this stupid obsession (like Re:monsters author) to "buff up" his character with things he really really wants even if he has to literally force some abilities to Rimuru through roundabout ways which dont make sense even through questionable logic of manga. "oh yah.. and i obtained this and this skill when i ate that thing.. it wasnt supposed to really have those skills but maybe it ate something right before i ate it and for some reason i got it.. lucky me!"

But these nitpickings are pretty minor and easily ignorable.. they sting a little into eye when they come and get pointed out but they also go very fast. Its fun story and definitely followed.

I found Maou no Hajimekata to be a better read than Re:Monster, at least what was released so far. Re:Monster's "protagonist" is way too delusional about his own character, at least Maou no Hajimekata's MC had no delusions that what he was doing was evil.

Almost everything is better than re:monster. Even "brawling go".

*Cough* one of the Tempest idols *cough*

I shall named it

Tempest Harem

Rimuru's special force of cute girls. They will be as deadly as they are cute. Rimuru himself included, since he still in the form of a loli, genderless, but visual wise.

You don't lose any "quality", real or imaginable, if you save scans in grayscale using save for web and png8 with 256 colors. It's available even for Gimp. Though for this kind of scans 32 colors (64 at worst) would be more than enough to not see any difference between it and 256 colors.

fixed and optimized at the expense of quality

Oh trust me, she's definitely going to look obviously female once she gets named...

I wonder why some people like to save png scans in rgb, using "save as" instead of "save for web", and without compression to boot. It's not a rocket science.

Chapter 19: 75,5 MB -> 15 MB

Chapter 20: 147 MB -> 14 MB

fixed and optimized at the expense of quality, will remove these chapters once the lighter ones are up

xD im really glad to see my input was appreciated i was worried that i had phrased it poorly/made it too harsh, good luck with translation and what not, ik it takes alot of work and effort

I'm fixing chapter 20 right now, both 19 and 20 should be up in a few minutes. I would really appreciate it if you could look over them again and tell me what you think if you could, I also optimized the images at the expense of quality so it shouldn't take more than a few seconds to load each page.

This is really helpful! I'll be sure to bring it up with namakeamono, thanks for the imput!

>the "by suddenly appearing" part was totally unnecessary and felt kinda B-movie-esque to me, you coulda just left that out)

SHE'S A GIRL???!!!

i hope the lizard girl will have name and transform... hmmm

Spoiler

Dragon girl, calling it now. o/

M-maybe they enjoy using all 256 shades of black and white ;p

I do though ;_; I don't mind less quality if the manga's art isn't great but here the art is beautiful but I'll redo chapter 19 and 20 today anyways dakara daijobu!

Aah, here I thought my internet was working slow or something.

He's serving/making takoyaki in another ver. Of this manga

He's going to appear after 2 arcs

All the "no group" translations desperately need proofreaders. -.-
I'd be willing to do it.

Why are so many scanlators so lax about grammar and punctuation? It takes all the immersion out of reading a manga.

Never trust a young lizard person. SMH Dick Cheney. Also Shion is still best girl I see.

Because they don't know what they're doing and reading a guide is too much effort. Same reason people think machine translation is "helping" ;\

you won't notice this in the novel but in the manga I need to keep reminding myself that rimuru is an old man.

He's not that old. End of 20's or beginning 30's was his age when he was stabbed.

Whoever is doing translation, I wouldn't mind helping you with editing the dialogue if you sent me a script beforehand. Writing is my forte. Message me if you want some help.

I'm the only editor namakeamono needs, you need not apply
