I know Ashihara Daisuke wrote both, but do we have Word of Author confirmation that "Room 303" exists in the World Trigger universe? Or "Neighborhood", as it were. ;)

(Sorry if we already had this conversation. I vaguely remember it, but it has been awhile and am not certain. It might have simply been a "check out Ashihara's other awesome work" conversation.)

Am I the only one who likes to see mikumo being useful? even if he's a sandbag, tactics win bitches!

Punch a sandbag wrong and you can break your hand : )

Yey, English translations have finally caught up to latest <3

Mikumo Osama I now present you the Shireo's The Villain in Glasses Award

the title should be "OSAMU MIKUMO" not nasu rei, because in the end osamu's plan wins!

I don't think we actually know that as of yet, but it sounded somewhat political in nature... Might be somehow connected to the current situation on their world, which is apparently quite unusual when even their national treasure goes on an away-mission... =)

TreasureS.

At least three black triggers were Afto's national treasures, 2 of them trick types, meaning that the more they get used in an uncontrolled environment and get analysed, the less effective they will be. And that wasn't even a real all out attack, their main forces went for stronger Neighboring countries, what we saw was an offshoot of the main force. Meaning that those three national treasures didn't even make the cut.

So yeah, something is definitely afoot.

wait, why did the enemy neighbors leave Hyuse behind btw?  and why'd Jin say it was expected to happen?

it's true. "strength of feelings" isn't a winner and manga that run on "power of friendship" are generally urgh. World Trigger isn't denying that emotion is a factor though. That would be prettttttyyy dumb since a strongly motivated human is way more inventive and extreme. For example, cutting off one's own arm to break free after days of being crushed under a rock, motivated by a dream of seeing one's son. So, yes, when a character is driven to the brink and somehow miraculously overcomes the odds, I generally buy it. It all comes down to whether the writing is any good.

Nice reference. :D

 -snip-

He clearly said that emotion matters when the opponents are of equal strength (he said only then but I digress). So it's not complete denial. Like, yo, I get what the character was saying and I totally agree - don't get me wrong. I'm just saying that power of the mind can do some damage sometimes. So... yeah. Manga being logical and supporting getting thru things with ability and smarts so it gonn be interesting cuz the tension when someone good comes along again will be legit.

Feelings are there to squeeze out some of that extra juice. Shounen tends to take that extra juice as a big deal. And I mean, high spirits means you're motivated and doing all you can and more. Someone who's just "got it" is likely not to even need as much spirit - like the dude who gave the speech (idr his story tho just that he's rivals with Jin).

No, it's outright denying that emotion is a factor. He said it quite clearly.

"What matters is power, strategy, luck".

"Feelings along can't overturn a difference in combat potential."

"Getting through on spirit alone only happens when both sides are equal in ability."

[continue]....

Spoiler

I can't think of a clearer or stronger denunciation of the usual shounen "emotions" bull.

Mod edit: 10+ lines ..put most of them in [spoiler] tag please.

Since the next chapter is the 100th chapter is there going to some sort of special ?

that was an awesome chapter  making fun of all shonnen  fighting spirit lol

Or maybe you don't understand what a good tournament arc is about.
The problem is it's really bland and boring this arc.
It is as you say - we just see this one and that one "fighting" and showcase of their abilities. In a quick way ,not in a primal shounen tournament.
Man it really gets boring after 10 or so of this chapters.
After all , When the competitors have poker face all the time,it's really exciting right?
You just can't get the tournament feeling out of this one.

Mod Edit: multi-quotes that's 10+ lines applies to [spoiler]tag too. To see how to do Quote within quote [spoiler] tag , read c.s guideline which I posted below.

Perhaps you don't understand that people have different tastes.  What I personally find "bland" is endless tournament battles with all the same cliches.  If you like the formulaic stuff, that's fine, but I don't.  A good arc of any kind should mix things up a bit, not repeat the same exact pattern with different characters with different abilities, and that's why I'm enjoying this.  I (and others from the comments I've read) thought it was refreshing.  If it bores you so, perhaps you should read another manga w/ a tournament in it, then come back when this is done. :P

We all have things we don't understand.  For example, I don't understand why someone who requires death to be entertained continues to read a manga where the lack of death was made clear in the first few chapters.

EDIT: On my screen, it was 8 lines, which is less than 10.

i'm actually kind of of the same mind that this arc isn't particularly fun. i DO care about what Osamu will plan but i DON'T care about the other characters or rankings and stuff. so, uh, waiting for it weekly - eh. but getting the whole fight to see the results - yssss. it's basically an arc that works better when read in bulk, imo.

Except that in this shonen manga I don't remember anyone dying at all.(good guy side)

And this bores me because there is no suspense at all. I don't get how reading manga equivalent to football match+commenting can be considered interesting (speaking of this arc).

Also I don't bother trying to memorize the names of the huge cast of side characters  that each has versatile power and good specific side effect.

A short review of this arc:

" The people with all cool powers and stuff that didn't get to shine last arc make an entrance here. You are pleased to see & read pages after pages of the cast of  game commentators discussing the played games, which are packed with INTENSE ACTION! The tournament is heating up with each chapter, stay tuned for the next chapters to find who the best one really is ! "

Yeah.

I'm really enjoying this arc. It combines elements of training arcs and tournament arcs to great effect. Not only do our MC's get the experience they need, but we are also introduced to the characters they'll be fighting next to when they go after the neighbors. It is an elegant and highly efficient method of story telling.

Right? I find it really refreshing that it seems Ashihara Daisuke is so straightforwardly and unabashedly writing for the long haul.

"This bores me because I have attention issues and people aren't dying every chapter."
