Also, that's a pretty laughable argument that LNs will be better just because they're more niche and less mainstream. How mainstream something is doesn't have much actual relation to its quality.

The more mainstream something is, the larger percent of it will be targeted at the lowest common denominator. That's what I tried to say.
Although, LNs got quite a bit more popular in recent years, and their average quality has dropped, so I guess this argument was out of place here.

The thing is that LNs aren't a distinct medium. They're a subgenre of a larger medium (books in general). And the target audience of that subgenre... well, let's say that there's a reason there're a lot of wish fulfillment fantasies, incestuous little sisters, harems, and that kind of thing. There're some really good standout works, but they're the exceptions in a sea of crap. Of course, the same could be said for virtually all genres--there's a reason Sturgeon's Law is a thing. But the average's especially bad for otaku focused works, which a very large number of LNs fall into. Not to mention the usual mimicry.

LNs aren't a fully distinct medium, but they're not a genre or subgenre either. You should look up what "genre" means.

LNs are books, and they cover as many genres as good old novels. "Light novel" is just a marketing label and it refers to the format of printed volumes more so than anything else.
There is a lot of shitty LNs, true, but the same can be said for any medium. Every complaint you have voiced in your post is also applicable to manga, for example.

Basically, I don't argue that most LNs are like junk food. Low quality and little intrinsic value. But then again, most manga is on a similar level. For example, there are very few worthwhile stories in such common manga types as "battle/competitive shounen", "romance shoujo", or "romcom with dense/indecisive protagonist".
What I'm against is this shallow way of thinking we can observe here. People generalize too much and hate on all LNs for no good reason.

I love how big sister keeps dropping these truth bombs about LNs

Good thing i don't read LN and only read manga and watch anime.

these 2 chapters were translated back in May, he just uploaded them here, i wouldnt count on any more updates

Sad ;(

Ooh, it's alive.

Man, I... I donno about this one. These characters are in a genuinely bad situation; Tomoko is going to school, at least! It feels more like I'm supposed to laugh at people who are really in trouble instead of someone I could see myself as.

Agree. This work is not mocking Isekai genre or LNs in general. It's simply making fun of its characters, just like in Watamote.

On a related note, this comment section looks rather pitiful, more so than characters in the manga. People are openly projecting their biases against novels on the events in the manga, as if it would elevate them over others. This in itself is already lame, but the manga vs LN comparison makes it even worse.
LNs on average are not any worse than manga, if anything it would be the other way around since manga is a larger industry with a more mass market approach. And in any case, different mediums each have their own advantages, drawbacks and specifics. Trying to put one above the other only shows your ignorance and insecurities.

Most of the actual good writers are working in other genres than LNs.

I do read some LNs and WNs, but they're either exceptions, or things that scratch a particular itch regardless of quality. (For example, I like reading about VRMMORPGs and worlds with game-like systems, though I've dropped works in that vein because they just wallowed too much in garbage, gave the MC too many unique skills, had too many people fellating the MC's awesomeness, had crap treatments of their female characters, and so on.)

no more episodes?

I wouldn't go that far...

Wow, Kanae was a lot faster in making a new friend than Tomoko, and this is a shut-in we're talking about, here.

Tanigawa Nico? Followed.

I know it's obvious, but the manga referenced in ch.5 are One Piece and Yamikin Ushijima-kun.

Well, why not? She has time for it. Using it for the sake of the other people (in the meaning of entertainment) doesn't seem like a bad idea.

Actually, I think, I might even know such person in RL. :3

Actually, it's just a joke referencing the naming convention of the mangaka's other work, Watamote. But yeah, it's better than just lazing around doing nothing and there's also a chance of being asked to do a professional work. Though, that's assuming you have high enough skill to do it.

"Because I'm a NEET, I'll write a novel."

A picture may be worth a thousand words, but if that picture is done awfully and the "thousand words" range from bad to poor, I would prefer the hundreds of decent words from a novel.

The Mushoku Tensei manga got me to read the Mushoku Tensei Web novel. The only reason I have not read the manga since then is because it is difficult for me to reread things so quickly after.
(You know that idea of the obnoxious person in a movie theater? The one who spoils things just as they are about to happen? That guy lives in my brain and doesn't have to see the movie ten times to repeat what is about to happen to me...)

Nah, I think she didn't really mocking isekai genre as she likes the isekai copycat novel that her sister made in chapter 1. It's just the wording and story telling in her sister's original novel is just awful.

So I checked the Internet. There is a novel called "If Cats Disappeared from the World" by Kawamura Genki and it has been adapted to movie and manga. The book cover also looks similar enough.

When I think about it, the dual wielding thing pretty much refer to SAO isn't it?

So its mocking both isekai genre and SAO..
