That, and the Anime ran through the story at a real break neck pace. Most LN to Anime Conversions would do two volumes of material in 12 episodes. Pretty sure this one did four or five volumes in the 12 episodes, but because of that, left out nearly all of the world building and slower scenes.

And anime cut out even whole volume out while airing..and more. I read LN.

So basically.. they screwed themselves out of a possible decent running anime by immediately catching up to the source material in one go? Sucks to be them I guess.

The anime cuts a lot of the sub-plots out in order to reach a conclusion in one season. The manga is following a lot more closely to the LN and therefore must cover more material than the anime had to. The English version of the LN has overtaken the anime story line - Volume 6 of the LN has been released by Yen Press and covers the plot that follows where the anime ended (which was at the end of volume 5). No spoilers here, but volume 6 manages to begin and conclude a major plot line in the one volume, and it was kick-ass!

Most light novel anime these days are just advertisement material giving bare minimum and end it in 12 to 26 episodes so people would get curious and buy LN instead which if you ask me missed opportunities for lots of good stories to get animated.
