Yes, this is drama and yes, he's feeling miserable but this page... ugh.

Is she going for the ol' Star Driver ending?

As far as I remember, one of the worst things about Star Driver was that it didn't really have a satisfactory ending. At least in the respect of romance... I hope that mangaka isn't planning this kind of ending, it's too bland and frustrating.

Self-hate is a hell of a thing. That shit sticks with you like goddam tar. It can take years of therapy to even begin to combat the years of skewing your reality to fit the idea that you're worthless and kindness can often have an even worse affect on someone who feels they don't deserve that kindness. I know Futaba means well and obviously is being completely honest with Taichi that he is important to her (and has no way of knowing the effect of her words because she isn't aware he likes her) but that kind of shit can hit like a truck-kun. You can certainly be friends with someone of the opposite gender, it's obviously possible, but it's complicated when two people's intentions and feelings aren't aligned regardless of gender/sexuality/whatever.

...which is...where all this drama comes from, I suppose. Yay I explained the premise of this manga unintentionally!

This guy tries to go for this Mami but her 2 friends are abysmally hotter than her by every standard possible specially the blonde
what a pleb

flag of plot twist? that gay wasn't in love with mc but his bro? :D

The sublte within Touma is really tricky to guess, as the author throw obvious bait to us but might just cover.

The things Touma is either gay to Tai or gay to his bro as you was joking or in love with his sister in law.

Whether is it Touma secret feeling that him burdenend deeply between that choices.

That was handled really well.

For such a trope like Truck-kun, it suddenly explained why Touma was so angry about Taichi jumping out in front of a car like that (besides the obvious fact that he likes him) and his brother did a very good job of explaining it while keeping it light and letting Taichi know just how harmful his self-defeating guilt is to others. And obviously Taichi can't just get over his guilt for ruining Touma's chances just from a pep talk but he also took to heart what Seiya told him; unfortunately it looks like that's compounding his guilt because not only did he hurt Touma physically but emotionally because of what happened to his parents, increasing his guilt which is in itself hurting others (which he realizes). So he's kinda stuck feeling like shit and doesn't really know the best way of getting out of it or doing something about it.

Mmm. That's good drama.

I can't believe I've been reading all this time and never noticed that the mangaka is the same one who does Cross Manage.

Welp, Japan sure have a lot of car crashes for a country with all that car safety.

Because Truck-kun is actually a messenger of god from another dimension, and he's actively search for lost soul to send

Hey guys, hope you enjoy the chapter!
Just so you know, Taichi's muttered dialogue on page 21 of Chapter 13 is intentionally smudged and hard to read in the original Japanese version. Whilst we're reasonably confident that is what he is saying, it is possible we're off somewhat.

they always make choosing what you wanna do in your 3rd year of high school such a big deal when its kinda not lol

I never understood why this is shown in a lot of manga/anime

I figure I'd mention the perspective is a tad different in Japan. Now I'm sure someone will correct me if I am wrong, but in Japan mandatory school ends at middle school. So their middle school graduation is closer to (USA) high school graduation while their high school graduation is closer to (USA) college graduation. Not necessarily in content level but level of importance in "which path in life" you are taking. Middle school graduates pick a high school like one would pick a college or they may choose to begin working. So after high school they are expected to be really specialized and set on what they want to do.

This may be changing now though I dunno, but I think that it was like that in Japan for a long time.

Oh no, now he will never get the D.

I wonder what do you mean when saying "when its kinda not". Aren't high schoolers in your country pressured by their parents and teachers and even peers to choose what they want to do in the future? And isn't it kinda depressing cause these high shoolers just don't fully grasp yet what they really want to do? And won't this decision ruin your whole life if you make the wrong choice? Yes, of course, you can suddenly decide that occupation you'd chosen in high school and studied for several years in the university isn't actually what you wish to do. And you can even enter another university and study for another several years, but it would be incredibly hard and costly. And if you have a family by the time you finally find your true purpose in life, then it's pretty much impossible to suddenly change everything (for example quit your job to attend university). Well, there are many people who did this, though, and modern world offers a lot of educational options, but it's still INCREDIBLY HARD.
And that's why it's such a big deal in high school when you have to choose. Actually, I'm a bit jealous of people who know what they want from the very beginning, cause I myself have found what I really want to do too late. I still have a chance to change my occupation (I'm 30 btw) but I just feel very sorry that I wasted so many years.

i dont understand how this is relevant to the conversation? You think i live an easy life or sth?

Get off your high horse

He doesn't think that at all, he made that pretty clear in his first sentence. He's just pretty much saying that in today's world, kids don't have the luxury of going into their young adulthood without any plans for the future. That process is usually pretty damning since most likely even if you study hard and look for every opportunity, the result which you get at the end of it won't always be what you wanted.

And what you said before about Taichi being dumb in another comment, yeah he is, but that's what being a kid is. When a decision which can change your life in an unlimited number of ways, good or bad, is presented before you while you still have that mentality, that's all you're going to think about. That's why it's so heavily presented in manga nowadays, it's an important decision which you have to think about.

I'm not sure what process you may have gone through but that's generally what's on kids minds while growing up whether they show it or not. Hoped this helped you understand but you probably got all this info from everyone else.

Seems like KAITO still can't write long stories.

I dunno who you are--how old you are, where you live, how rich your parents are if you're young--but if you're neither rich nor old nor living in Norway or something where prosperity is unusally widespread, you need to be getting a clue or you will be deep in the shit.  Mind you, the way things are nowadays people are often deep in the shit even if they do have a clue.

In North America, I'm from the last generation of people who could maybe get away with thinking like you do without being rich--and I'm 50.  I could drift through an impractical degree into a middle class job, and I'm very glad to have had that privilege.  Now?  Whether kids are poor, from the shrinking middle class, or even upper middle class, they face prospects of crap jobs or no jobs and crippling student loans.  Having a plan and working hard are a thin defence against the whole system going sour, but they're the only thing most teenagers can use.

CAR-KUN STRIKES AGAIN

The pace the cat was walking at and the speed/distance of the car and Tai running toward the cat doesn't seem to match up. I guess the distance and time were exaggerated for dramatic effect?

Cause I don't think the car would have actually hit the cat. It was kinda small. The only threat would have been the wheels

But eh what do I know about cats and car crashes

Welp, Japan sure have a lot of car crashes for a country with all that car safety.

I hope so, but the hostility levels after this chapter are likely going to be high in the story..

Yea, everyone will blame Tai for this

Hate this development

Wanted the relationship problems to be solved without Deus Ex Machina like car crash and shit

This was actually alluded to or...built up? I guess referenced is the best term, when he was talking to spooky eye girl but I'm not too sure about the execution. Instead of drama coming naturally about from the characters which this manga has successfully done this entire time it instead is an outside force coming in to create that drama.

Hrm. I guess I'll wait and see how it's pulled off. I've liked it so far, no reason to doubt it now.

He's fine. Absolutely.
