Faputa turned from "hella scary" into "hella cute" but then back to "hella scary" again so quickly.
but ermahgerrrrrrrrrd she's so adorableeeeeee D:

oh my sweet, sweet, innocent prushka! what has he done to you? T.T

why does the artist have to draw kids like that, i would enjoy the story so much more without the outright sexualization of children. so weird. the plot is so intriguing tho, i really want to know what's at the bottom of the abyss...

IMO, you're not supposed to be comfortable reading this manga. Incidentally, I'd not call anything I've seen here sexualization. Of course, the author doesn't skirt around NSFW topics, but the point of the hanging naked thing and of Reg's bone isn't to invoke sex but rather to explore the characters and to build atmosphere. You get a pretty good understanding of this society's sensibilities from a full page of Riko hanging naked for some minor-ish infraction, right?

That's the way it reads to me, at least.

Can we just take a moment a hail RBT for this chapters <3 thnk you very much

The Abyss is synonymous with the author's magical realm, you can't brave one without braving the other.

Spoiler

Now I really am wondering how bad the time dilation is on the 6th floor compared to the people living on top. It seems like only a month or two has passed for team riko but I bet its been near a year in the town.

I did the maths. I might as well make a forum thread about it.

Well, now we know for sure why Reg has a boner for fluffy things. It's a reflex from the time that he spent with four-handed cutie.

Reg didn't get his arm back?

They are carrying it around I think.

And that's it. Chapter 42 is the latest that's been released.

NNNOOOooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!

This manga is really enjoyable with its unsettling atmosphere, beautiful art and interesting characters and setting. Even the perversion does not seem gratuitous.

I wonder if the following inspired the author:

"Beware that, when fighting monsters, you yourself do not become a monster... for when you gaze long into the abyss. The abyss gazes also into you."

Thank you for your hard work!

Oh. So how many best girls do we get in this series?

What, is having your flesh ripped from your bones and turned into currency suddenly cruel and unusual punishment?

Think of it like this. They are repo men, they take all you own until you have given equal to what you took. But if your current possessions aren't equal to that value then your body is sold too. If Meinya wasn't so valuable he wouldn't have gotten it so bad.

What is justice without mercy, and mercy without justice?

It feels wrong because we just saw one who received the latter (Bondrewd), vs. one who received the former. (A Narehate who looks to have been another of Bondrewd's victims, but who ended up a bit...more damaged in the head)

I think the Narehate here are in fact white whistles and foreign delvers of ages past for the most part. Kajya mentioned that these Narehate's lives are preserved indefinitely in their forms, but at the cost of never being able to leave the Abyss and never really have the ability to do anything other than pursue their desire. Besides going all the way down to the sixth layer requires a white whistle and I don't think Bondrewd would be willing to risk losing grasp of his soul in order to see the layer. That was why he built that pulley elevator that dropped subjects in the water as quickly and as close the the sixth layer as possible in order to test the layer's effects.

so, the village automatically redistributes value from offenders to the victim. that's what justice is, right? why does it feel wrong, though?

'cause of empathy.  If you lost something of immense value and the person who damaged it has to suffer the same, you know the pain they go through.  It does balance out but no one's feels are fixed.

So, Nanachi's (or Mitty's) desire was to become best girl?

damn right

Seemsgood. The cyanide lining is presumably something about how the rules don't apply to thing stolen outside the village (e.g., Prushka), so the rules are ultimately bullshit because they end up enforcing someone's retention of stolen property.
