Description: Aramiya Seiichi is an ordinary high school… eroge otaku who’s given up all hope on girls in the 3D world due to a certain incident. One day, after he’s bought a bunch of new material in consequence of experiencing the frustration of a perfect eroge character turning out to be “used goods,” he encounters a delinquent-like-looking girl being about to get raped by a bunch of guys. By mere chance, he rescues her. Days later, when school starts again, it turns out to have been his classmate, Ayame, a feared delinquent girl who’s got all kind of rumors about her – especially that she’s “used goods.” And it appears that she’s set on becoming his ideal girl to make him fall for her.

Girl confesses to MC

MC: Sorry. I prefer virgins.

Virgin girl confesses to MC

MC: Sorry. I prefer 2D girls.

Please stay single.

you must be retarded if u think that she confessed for real

come on man, think about it more and u'll see that its all bullshit

he got two beautiful girls who love him and he still prefer like 2D.

Man, if I had a friend like Tozaki, I swear I'm going to kill him. If not, at least, I'm going to make his life miserable.

He's the most awful friend I've ever seen.

This genuinely hilarious, this cunt is like the embodiment of the random board on 4chan lmao

Perhaps a 2D girl is needed to complement his one-dimensional character.

Can't they at least try to hide the fact that the seiyuu has a terrible and manipulative personality? So obvious that she wants to mess with the delinquent.

okay the story so far....

well... that escalated quickly

i smell something fishy about yuuka, yuuka seems like bitch girl types (?)

And/or perhaps

You don't say.

Just look what she say when she talk about Ayane "rumors are true", it's enough to know her character.

What kind of pussy does one have to be to deny a blatant invitation to get laid?

Only Japan...

This is a common trope, it's no wonder birthrates are still declining.

There is no story without conflict. End of story.

>inviting a girl over just to play eroge

Top kek. I haven't laugh out like this in a loong time. They even had to stop at the H scenes.

Must have been feel sorry for the girl.

I'm so tired of stories with a character adhering to the "I don't like 3D girls" trope - but then how many of those characters have shelves of 3D figurines in their bedrooms? I guess what they really mean is they don't like 3D girls with their own personality that don't line-up with the character's fantasy world. Starting now I'm boycotting stories with a character that professes this trope.

i think i know the reason of why hatsushiba likes aramiya. maybe in the eroge that she found from toozaki's mistake, she has role on that game and it was an important role for her?

Seeing that color page of Ayame made me realize I want Delinquent Ayame to make a return.

I mean, some people are genuinely not interested, and I'm not talking due to one's sexuality.

you put this kind of analysis in the forums, not the comment section

Or at least in spoiler tags to reduce the big space is talking in the comment section

Seiyuu girl is a sloot wanting to steal MC from old best friend (Ayame).

This bitch crazy.

Eh, not as many people read the forums as they do comments especially for this manga apparently.  Forums only have 4 posts and 1 reply.  I'm sure he'd rather post it somewhere it'll actually get seen, and if he uses spoiler tags it doesn't take up space.

Is there actually games, that have you have to do it inside to get the true end? Like... why?

I'm sure it's the same ideology behind purism. Just to keep things interesting, though... why not?

Aside from having a main character that feels like a robot with no real agency, the pacing of this manga is all over the place.

The story of a manga is told in panels. This means that a scene can feel abnormally long if the author doesn't progress the action at a pace that matches the tone of whatever is happening.

This is particularly apparent in chapter 0: we get a total of 5 pages of rape preamble. Prolonging the length of this scene is probably the result of a lack of space management and conflicting priorities. Providing large fan-service oriented frames seems to take precedence over what is actually happening, making the action drag on beyond the 2 pages it needed and destroying any sense of immersion the reader had.

Slowing the story down this way also makes the MC seem like nothing more than a personification of the intended audience's libido (IE an overly observant sociopath). The MC decides to leave after spending 4 whole pages observing the assault. He even has time to comment on her state of partial undress and, instead of thinking "oh shit, what do I do, they are really going to rape her," he thinks "what a slut."

On a side note, I suppose I shouldn't find this reaction surprising. The intended audience and campy representation of men in Japanese media means that I was destined to hate this manga. But I always am surprised. I can't help but wonder if mangaka who produce works with similar content to Real no Heroine are even reading their own stuff. Did this scene seem compelling to you, Noritake?

Even more jarring is the way the pace suddenly picks up when the MC is put in danger. If anything, this is when the pace should have slowed down. Slowing down at this point would provide the reader a chance to relate to MC's fear of a real danger that he is really facing. Instead, the only time we are asked to empathize with the MC is when he shows how afraid he is of a potential danger that he can easily avoid, further compounding the aforementioned characterization problems.

To understand what I mean, think of it this way:

The main character of a movie is standing 30 feet away from the edge of a sheer cliff. So long as they don't walk any closer to the edge of the cliff, they are in no immediate danger. However, instead of immediately coming to this conclusion, the main character spends 1 minute of the movie monologuing about what might happen if they DID approach the side of the cliff.

Suddenly, the cliff begins to collapse at a rapid pace, forcing the character to face a reality where once there was only possibility. However, rather than a long, satisfying action sequence during which the character nearly perishes and is forced to grapple with the vertigo that so terrifies them, the threat is resolved in a brief series of shots in which the main character walks backward very quickly and the cliff just so happens to stop collapsing at a convenient distance of 30 feet away.

At the end of 1 minute and 30 seconds of story telling, all we know about this character is that they are more afraid of the potential for danger than they are of actual danger, all because of how much emphasis is placed on each subject.

But Real no Heroine doesn't even go this far! Not once am I ever convinced that this forgettable MC is actually afraid of the situation. Yes, his actions suggest fear, but his thoughts and expressions completely contradict that to the point that it seems like he more interested in seeing someone get raped than anything else.
