Description: Otaku Sakamichi Onoda has just entered high school and plans to join the anime club. In middle school, Onoda didn’t have any friends with whom he could talk about anime, games, Akihabara and other otaku things, and he is hoping he can make such friends in the anime club, but he finds out it's been disbanded. In order to reestablish the club he tries to find 4 other people who would like to join.

Since he was a little boy, Onoda has ridden his mamachari–a bulky bicycle with a step-through frame mainly used for short rides, such as for casual fun or to pick up groceries–to go to Akihabara every week to check out or buy otaku things. Fellow freshman Shunsuke Imaizumi and bicyclist, while training, notices a boy (Onoda) riding his mamachari up a steep road.

Freshman and road racing cyclist, Shokichi Naruko visits Akihabara to get some Gundam plastic models for his younger brothers and meets Onoda who catches his attention because of the his cycling skill on the mamachari and later find out they go to the same school. Later on, both Naruko and Imaizumi try to convince him to join the bicycle racing club, but will he?

Can we just sub in Kuga already... This first year is super annoying and a non-factor.

Kaburagi you are one that are idiot lol xD

... I could kill that kid.

... ok, Onoda screwed up sometimes last year (and this year) as well but miraculously saved himself (and the team) each time (well, one time Arakita saved him), but somehow I wonder if Kaburagi could possibly pull it together.

I love how Teshima is constantly telling Kaburagi to use the "san". Probably he wants to stay calm but on the inside he is like "Show some respect to my boyfriend and use "san" you sh***y first-year!"

i thought there was a new update... too bad its just reupload...

FIVE CHAPTER UPDATE YAY

I was waiting for Shinkai Yuuto to... get to do something.  Guess day 2 something will happen!  lol, he's not that reverent about aniki at all.  How do they abbreviate zugyun...?  Maybe just ZGN is fine....

Thank you for the update, Yowapeda Fan Scans!

Lookin' forward to Shinkai and Onoda battle.

I was hoping it was Midosuji who met his mom, because he's a momma's boy and wearing a "Best Boy" hate would be ironic lol. Midosuji is my favorite chara.

big updates...

Many tears shed for Naruko.  The whole "I gotta win no matter what" for the 3 of them... was silly.

I find the results to be pretty sad/silly how it went down, but that will fuel the others to do better in the next 2 days.

Spoiler

By the way.... Was there any reason why Imaizumi couldn't catch up, like The tall dude from HG?  I understand Kuroda pushed the ace, but was that really enough that Imaizumi couldn't come close?  Close enough to give Naruko that same push?

I understand that the Mangaka is not trying to involve multiple elements, i.e., students from the same school, into the mix, but I feel Imaizumi should have had more of a role/impact at the end there.

SUB KUGA IN ALREADY!!!!!!!

its like watching attack on titans with cycles...

Spoiler

After chapter 344, I thought it might not take 4 more chapters to end day 1, BUT SOMEHOW I WAS RIGHT ABOUT HOW LONG IT WOULD TAKE orz

Nearly.

Short by 1 chapter. >.>;;;

346: Midousuji's flirting with Naruko now... tease.  It's interesting how Imaizumi's sort of matured beyond his own fixation on Midousuji, and he's, uh, supportive of Naruko's (admittedly healthier rivalry).

347: oh, Midousuji's alternate battle cry

Midousuji thinks of honing himself for the win as paring himself down to the essentials

Naruko thinks of it as accumulating... something

348: uhhhh, hopefully Imaizumi's intuition (I'm just gonna call it a lack of recklessness) meant he didn't get caught up with Kuroda's stunt.  Well.  Cats bounce, usually.

Kuroda, it's Day 1, was that actually worth it...

I wanted to update till the goal but that chapter is not done yet and Im leaving tomorrow on a trip so I thought of doing a triple update for my temporary abscence.

small spoiler (about how many people will take the goal):

Spoiler

dang, I thought a triple upload meant we'd actually get to see the goal, guess not. Anyway thanks for the uploads!

Yeah..... Lets hope it's not a 3 way win or some bs like that again...

It's a bit discouraging what happened in the last chapter.

So somehow these 3 were able to catch up to the 2 fastest sprinters in the IH?  Sometimes this manga pulls shit out of nowhere.

Midosuji was able to pass all 6 of them, and then naruko kept up.  Midosuji wasn't even using full strength, but the 2 2nd tier fastest sprinters couldn't catch up to him?

Now all of a sudden Hakone's ace was able to catch up to the fastest sprinters going all out?

With all that backstory it seems that AShikaba it going to catch up, but I realy dont want him to.

I believe this first day's result should show that Hakone's team isn't the only top competitor, with a decisive loss.

If we remember, I believe that Hakone one the first day, then there was a 3 way tie between Kyotofushi, Hakone, and Souhoku, then Souhoku won the entire IH.

So it makes sense that Hakone would lose the first fay.

Previous interhigh, Izumida lost the sprint to both Tadakoro and Naruko (who, unlike Kaburagi and Aoyagi, weren't cooperating at all) although there was the traffic cone thing (otoh you imagine Shinkai could have won it... if he didn't have to pass on a particular side).  Toudou won the climb against Makishima but he seriously had a 3min lead (thanks, Onoda).  And it was a three-way tie for the end of the first day.  Far from an overwhelming Hakogaku victory.

This interhigh, Doubashi pretty clearly won the sprint against the designated sprinters.  Manami won because everyone else in the race held Onoda back for him, frankly (Teshima did well but he wasn't really supposed to be the competition in the first place).  And now... I really want Naruko to win.  Two-way tie with Midousuji is acceptable, I don't really want him to go back to committing to sprinting too fast. XD

Anyway, Midousuji passed those other three because they were, you know, distracted, although he did build a respectable lead after that.  I don't think its weird that Ashikiba managed to get them closer, though; he'd been resting the whole time, while Midousuji and Naruko have both taken turns pulling or have been going it alone for a while.  Also, they were on a climb, still.  I wonder how good Ashikiba really is as an all-rounder, 'cause he got lumped in as 1 of 4 climbers when they described this year's Hakogaku team earlier.  If all-rounders were always considered legit climbers that makes them no different from last year's Hakogaku regardless of Kuroda's background and it wouldn't even be notable compared to Sohoku.  Still, they sent him out to the Minegayama hill climb against Onoda.  We haven't seen him sprint at all yet.

EDIT: as a whole, racing as depicted in YWPD never makes any sense to me.  You notice that in spite of any specialists getting ahead in any way, somehow everyone else in the team eventually catches up anyway, so no leads are ever actually convincing.  It made no sense to me that Fukotomi-Shinkai-Kinjou-Imaizumi even bothered to leave ahead of the rest of their teams on day 3.  They were counting on the rest of their teams catching up to them.  What is more efficient, having 2 people rush ahead on their own and 4 hustling to catch up afterwards, which ensures that 2 people need to pull for each group, or have them all leave as 6, so only 1 person needs to pull at a time?  (Even aside from the whole mess with the pack).  At that point the only person ahead of the teams as a whole was Midousuji+Ishigaki, and it's not like the two of them could have maintained a lead against Hakogaku and Sohoku's complete lineups anyway.

Wow, Midousuji thinking about Ishigaki in a not-completely-disparaging way.

chapter 343, I think they went from 2.5km to 1.7km

chapter 344, 1.7km to <.9k

Depending how much time they spend on the second pack, maybe it won't take 4 more chapters to settle this. XD

Naruko better not lose now

Spoiler

I've been wanting Naruko to win a significant goal as an all-rounder since Imaizumi pushed him towards being an all-rounder.  (I mean, sorry Imaizumi, I do like you but NARUKO.  Also if you catch up then Hakogaku is in a better place to win and I am not for their straight victory in day 1 at all.  They lucked out on the climb, too, and not even 'cause Teshima stopped for Manami.)  Ahhhh punk them all!  ... but I seriously dunno what's gonna happen.  1700m might as well be an eternity in manga-time, too.  I guess since they've reached this point topographically Kishigami will be mostly a non-factor for the rest of day 1, after all.

Naruko better not lose now

Spoiler

OK, I thought the cat muscle thing was it, but Kuroda's scab gimmick is even weirder.  Also, I refuse to believe Kishigami is actually out of this.  The meat herd left him behind, and that's no good, also he's sneaky.

Belated thought about 339: HEY IMAIZUMI, MIKI IS SORT OF YOUR FRIEND, DON'T BE AN ASS.

340: Kishigami descends upon the meat herd, Midousuji who?  I wonder which side Imaizumi/Kuroda tuck. >.>  OMG, good job, Naruko!

341: In his way, Naruko has a lot of composure.

"Want to cooperate until we reach the goal?" uh, Naruko didn't even cooperate with Tadakoro last year....

Naruko knows all about ppl who aren't used to the word "friendship" >.>;;;

Hm, ok, I dunno what Imaizumi's gonna do here.  Sohoku and Hakogaku had a temporary alliance last year as well.  Whether he cooperates or not, Ashikiba's the only one who will arrive rested, he'd theoretically just be helping to deliver him.  He could trust in Naruko, but that's, like, against his religion.  And if it's Kuroda vs. Midousuji, even with Midousuji aiming for the goal and Kuroda only aiming for like 500m ahead of the goal, I wouldn't normally bet on Kuroda.  OK, now that Kishigami's gotten one grope in, what is he doing?

I have a feeling Midosuji is going to win, but I want Naruko to win and regain what he lost back in the winter.  I would love to see the wheels make an appearance at the IH.

Midosuji always has plans up his sleeve.  I find it really bad that Midosuji is shown restricting blood flow to his muscles, that's really bad for you, especially with how much he's exerting those muscles, and how much blood is flowing.

So now that we've finished stretching Midosuji to all the directions, we're just going to make him a giant.

I can't wait to see where Physical Deformations with Midousuji could go.

Well... you know... This is the final stretch to the goal :).
