In a war 4,000 years ago, the ruling race, known as the Karma, froze the world of Rune and emigrated to a neighbouring planet. Only now, as the ice is melting, have they been able to return. Dulk is a young man of exceptional power, who is in training to become a Shaman. Since he was young, he has had vivid dreams of the planet of Rune, despite the fact that he has never actually been there.
